Many couples say the best part of the wedding is .... the honeymoon! Just like your wedding, it will take some advanced effort to make your romantic getaway just right. Follow this plan and you’ll be guaranteed to have a memorable first vacation as husband and wife: Six months to one year: If your honeymoon is during a high travel time, select your destination. Decide on a location that you are both happy with. Book airline and hotel reservations. Make your initial deposit. Three to six months: Apply for a passport or renew the one you have if it's about to expire. Reserve a rental car. Obtain vaccinations or medical clearance if needed. Consider travel insurance or travel protection plans. Make sure you have the proper travel documents. Two to three months: Make final travel payments. Write a list of items to pack. Ensure you have enough doses of your regular prescriptions. Purchase travel items like film, batteries, travel-size toiletries, electrical adapters, and a hand-held translator. Book excursions, show’ tickets, boat tours or side trips. Make arrangements for pets and house sitting. One month before: Distribute your travel itinerary to your family.
