Members of the Walton Women's
Institute spent last Monday at a
District Institute meeting on
Gowanstown. The hot topic was
amalgamation of area districts.

Marjorie Humphries and Brenda
Perrie.
Our sympathies are extended to the
Beattie family on the passing of Ken
Beattie.
Ed McClure has returned from a
two-week holiday in Cuba. He
enjoyed good food, good sun, good
fun.
Leona McDonald joined brother
Robert Stevens and wife Marg and
sister Peg (Margaret) Rogerson and
husband Ken in a birthday lunch for
the two of them in Clinton. They had
a great visit at the new home of Ken

some days. Plenty of deer were seen
because the snow cover is not that
deep and it is easy for them to get
around.
They toured to the Dokis Indian
Reserve to look around, saw the
French River rapids and while on
Lake Nipissing, saw many stress
cracks that pushed higher than six
feet or more. Someone had to keep
the fires going when the machines
were away from before 9 a.m. until
around 6 p.m. and that was chief
cook Barry Hoegy and others.
A great time was reported and great
snowmobiling too.
Ken and Brenda Dalton have
moved into their new home and
Geoff and Michelle have moved into
the home farmhouse.
Our sympathy to John and Andrew
van Vliet on the passing of a father-
in-law and grandfather John Oldfield
of Seaforth.

the Beanspiel on Saturday and a
K. Hoegy welcomes Duff's members
Members and friends of Duff's
United Church were welcomed to
the service by Karen Hoegy. Brian
Black read the scripture following
the call to worship.
Patty Banks and Brian Black
shared their gift of song by singing
We Gather Here.
Brian Black delivered the Minute
for Mission. He used the phrase,
“Every bit counts.” The United
Church members give to the
congregation, the community, local
and international outreach programs.
If everyone gave 22 cents a day or
$1.54 a week it would add up to $80
a year and the Mission and Service
Fund would benefit.

of Lent which begins on Ash
Wednesday after pancake Tuesday.
Lent ends before Easter Sunday.
Sometimes people find it hard to
celebrate times of joy because it can
also be mixed up with times of
sadness. For example a family
member may be ill in hospital yet
another family member is being

But God desires everyone to enjoy
these moments of joy, whether big or

Rev. Joan invited the members of
the congregation to share a memory
of joy with each other for a
