It was a good news report for
Huron County's land ambulance
services at the Nov. 29 meeting of
county council.
Warden Rob Morley said he was
proud of where the county was situ-
ated regarding ambulance service
now. However, he reminded council-
lors that they need to continue work-
ing on settling issues with neigh-
bouring municipalities.
Director of land amublance servic-
es David Lew said that since the
beginning of the year, most of the
cross-border billing issues have been
cleared.
Chief administrative officer Larry
Adams said that the county had been
the net receiver in the overall
scheme regarding cross-border
billing, and it is important that set-
tlements get started. "We are the net
gainer over the long-term. It's not
nearly what we had hoped for but we
are working with our neighbours and
will continue to."
As well Huron has reached an
agreement with Lambton County on
the occasional use of an ambulance
station in Grand Bend.
Lew said that action has been
taken to reduce response times, pri-
