Bloemberg scores 2
The Brussels Atom Local League
hosted Elma Logan in recent hockey
action. •
Curtis Bloemberg was walking on
clouds after scoring two goals.
Taylor Higgins and Tim Waechter
were credited with assists.
Elma Logan found a weak spot
and slapped one by goalie Austin
Johnston to tie it, but that was all he
would stand for.
On Saturday, Nov. 18 the Blyth
Mites hosted their first game of the
season against Brussels.
Mitch McNichol was quick to put
Blyth on the scoreboard. Brussels
came back to tie things up. Other
Brussels, however, continued their
strong play. Ben Hruska swept one
into the visitor s ' net with Nick Zwep
getting the assist.
With 50 seconds left in the
game, Elma • Logan pulled the
goalie and Lexi Smith took
advantage. She skated down the ice
and shot one high into the corner of
the net.
The final score was 4-1.
players to score for Blyth were Colin
Howson, Jacob Gulutzen, Zach
Walden and Bailey Bos, who got a
hattrick.
It was a great effort by the Blyth
Mites.
Blyth Mites play Brussels
On Oct. 29 the Wingham Swim
Team had a great first meet of the
season in Hanover.
The newly-formed year-round
swim team had a great meet taking
home many awards and a lot of
excellent personal best times.
Sydney Beard took sixth spot on
the girls, eight-and-under
breaststroke. Her coaches say, for a
girl who is only five years old and
being a first-year competitor,
In girls nine and 10, Jillian Boyce
took third In the 100m freestyle relay
and fourth in the 100m medley relay.
Boyce alSo recorded a great personal
time in the 25m backstroke taking 10
seconds off her previous times.
This is Boyce's first year as a
member of this team.
Sierra Moores excelled in this
The Blyth Tyke I team squared off
against the Milverton white team in
recent hockey action.
Blyth had a strong start with Chad
Treble scoring the first goal on the
first shift. He went on to score the
second goal, too.
The Brussels Atom Reps played
Zurich and came up on the winning
side of this contest
Leading the offence were Brody
TenPas and Brock McLean with
hattricks, Mitchell Kellington and
Hayden TenPas were also in on_ the
scoring. Assists went to Jordyn
Sholdice with two, Lexi Smith with
three, Colton Hastings, Reece
McArter and Kai Hiemstra.
-Matt McNichol played well in net.
The final score was 8-4.

backstroke, and 25m breaststroke.
Moore also took third in the 25m
butterfly.

Brianna Yuill took a third place spot
in the 100m freestyle relay, a fourth
in the 100m medley relay and a sixth
in the 25m butterfly.
Madison Dunn finished with a
third in the 100m freestyle relay and
fourth in the 100m medley relay.
Kylee Moores was very successful
in obtaining great personal times at
the meet in Hanover.
In the boys 13 and 14 category,
Nick Windsor took two fourth place
finishes in the 50m freestyle and
50m backcrawl, and third in the 50m
Morgan Howson scored the third
goal, assisted by Cody Treble.
Brenden Howson, with the
assistance of Cody Treble made the
score 4-Q.
The' two teams rallied back and
forth but Blyth's netminder held
breaststroke.
Windsor is also a first-year
swimmer. At his 'first meet Windsor
was a strong competitor in his age
group and also had excellent
personal times, taking 10-15 seconds
off his previous times.
T.J. Moores is only seven. He did
very well in _Hanover to bring home
some excellent personal best times.
Head coach Janet Boyce was very
proud of all her swimmers and can't
wait to see how the year progresses
and the milestones that these_
swimmers will reach.
The swim team will be gearing up
for another session starting Jan. 9-
March 27, running on Tuesdays from
4:30-5:30 p.m. at a cost of $52.
