Blyth Novice Dogs
fall 3-0 to BCH
It was three victories and a loss in
recent hockey action for the Blyth
Bulldog Atom Reps.
On Nov. 16, the team shut the door
on a visiting Elma-Logan squad with
a 6-0 victory.
Dustin Pennington scored two
goals in the first to get his team
started. The assists went to Matt
VanWyk and Curtis Raynard. Trystan
Weber bulged the twine before the
buzzer set up by Spencer Stevenson
and Mike VanWyk.
Raynard increased Blyth's lead in
the second with Wyatt Carey and
Mike VanWyk setting up the play.
While Dalton Carey continued to
fend off shots through the third, his
teammates increased the Dogs' tally
by two more. Pennington sealed his
hattrick, with Raynard and Matt
VanWyk assisting. Then Pennington
handed off to Matt VanWyk who set it
up for Raynard to end the scoring.
Carey stopped a total of 30 shots on
net.
It was a different contest three days
later when Blyth travelled to
Milverton.
McKenzie Carter and Drew Gross
led the hosts' onslaught with each
getting a hattrick plus one in this 8-6
contest.
The first period proved to be the
visitors' undoing. Weber was the only
Blyth goal, while Milverton scored
three. Pennington earned the assist.
The second period was better with
each team getting two goals. Blyth's
came off the sticks of Stevenson and
Mike VanWyk, with assists from Matt
VanWyk and Dylan Bromley.
Each team got three goals in the
third. Weber scored first with
Stevenson and Bromley setting up the
play. Wyatt Carey picked up the puck
from Raynard to score, then Mike
VanWyk lit the light one last time for
Blyth. Stevenson assisted.
Dustin Treble was netminder for
Blyth.
The next day it was a shellacking
of Listowel on home ice.
Dalton Carey was between the
pipes and earned a shutout.
Blyth jumped ahead by three in the
first period. Pennington and
Stevenson with each assisting the
Glousher earning the assist. Howson
slipped another one between the
pipes with Dawson Coultes gaining
the assist to finish Blyth's scoring.
On Sunday, Nov. 26 the Wallace
Novices travelled to Blyth. Goals
were scored by Rodger with an
assist going to Drew Bromley.
It was a great job in net by Curtis
Weber.

Rodger and Mike VanWyk were
creditted with the assists.
A hattrick wasn't enough for
Stevenson, however, and he added
two more in the third. Pennington
picked up an assist on one of them.
In an unassisted effort Mike VanWyk
shot the puck between the pipes to
end the game at 8-0 for Blyth.
On Nov. 26, the Dogs took on
Brussels. With home ice advantage
the team skated to a 4-2 victory.
Nesbitt put Blyth on the board with
an unassisted first-period goal. Treble
shut the door on the visitors through
the period.
Brussels got two in the second
period to keep things close. Mitchell
Kellington and Brock McLean
scored, both unassisted.
But Blyth had a solid outing,
scoring three to hang onto the lead
and provide some insurance.
Pennington got two with assists by
Josh VanSoest and Mike VanWyk.
Stevenson skated in alone to sneak
one by Brussels goalie Matt
McNichol.
Saturday, Nov. 18 brought the
Blyth Novice Dogs to BCH. They
played a good game, but came up
three goals short.
The final score was 3-0 for
BCH.
Sunday brought a much better
score although they still were
defeated. They travelled to
Milverton for a 4 p.m. game. The
Dogs were a little short on the bench
with only nine players. Lots of ice
time was had by all.
Making his debut in net was
Curtis Weber.
The first goal was scored by
Blyth's Amy Boyce, assisted
by Hunter Dale and Brandon
Marshall.
Milverton scored two goals in the
first period to make the score
2-1.
Blyth came back with a goal by
Marshall, assisted by Owen Weber.
Coming up with two more goals was
Dale. One was assisted by Boyce
and Marshall, and the other was
unassisted.
The score at the end of the second
was 4-3 for Blyth.
The guys did not seem to tire as
they entered the third period full
steam ahead.
Scoring the lone goal for the third
was Justin Rodgers, assisted by Dale
and Weber.
Blyth ran out of time and the final
score was 6-5.
Novice Dogs face Clifford
On Wednesday, Nov. 22 the for Blyth with no assists. Jordan
Blyth Novice Dogs travelled to Hubbard then scored with Brett
Clifford.
In the first period Blyth's Colton
Rodger started the scoring with an
assist going to Amy Boyce.
In the second period Justin Rodger
slipped one by the goalie with the
assist going to Gwen Weber.
Going into the third Brenden
Howson, the Little Bulldog as he•
was being called, put another goal in
