Grey teams play well
What a beautiful week of weather.
I managed to get the rest of the
outside decorating done for
Christmas.
Neil and Marie McGavin were off
to the Ottawa area this past week.
Neil was the guest speaker at the
Metcalfe Lions Club Farmers' Night
where he enjoyed a wonderful
evening. While in that area they
squeezed in a visit with Gib and
Elsie Patterson before returning
home.
Congratulations to Abby
McGavin who has finished another
successful coat drive. Abby
collected 190 coats and other winter
items for the outreach program
administered by Emmanuel Howard
Park United Church in Toronto.
Grey Central girls' and boys'
volleyball teams were very
successful in the tournament held at
F.E. Madill Secondary School on
Nov. 23.
They each played five games and
both made it into the championship
finals. The teams came away with
the runners-up honours.
Special appreciation goes to
coaches, Mrs. Goodall and Mrs
Strome, for their dedication and
leadership.
The school council has applied for
a grant through the Ministry of

surprise me on arrival. We had an
enjoyable evening together with
cards and food and lots of noise.
We returned to Jason and
LeeAnn's on Sunday for a birthday
dinner with the family.
Visiting at Howard and Audrey
Hackwell's on the weekend were
Patricia Andredes and Sebastian.

Education to increase parental
involvement. They plan to put this
money towards a lighted information
sign in the front yard visible from
the road. This will keep parents and
the community updated on current
happenings at the school.
Council has also purchased two
sound field systems to be installed in
kindergarten and Grade 1/2 classes.
One of the fundraising goals is to
purchase a few of these systems
every year until all the classrooms
are equipped with them. They make
the teachers' voices much more
audible for students and are
especially effective for primary aged
learners.
Report cards will be sent home on
Monday, Dec. 4. Parent/teacher
interviews can be scheduled for after
school on Dec. 7 and on the PD day
Dec. 8. A representative from school
council will be available during
these times to answer any questions
you may have for them.
Preparations for the children's
turkey dinner on Dec. 13 are well on
their way. Students don't need to
bring a lunch to school that day.
Everyone will be served this free hot
meal.
Abby, along with Brian, Shelley and
Tyson travelled to Toronto on
Sunday to deliver the items.
Surprise! It was party time on
Friday evening at Jason and LeeAnn
Konarski's who hosted a surprise
50th birthday party for me. My
family including Rick, Kelly home
from Toronto and Scott and hosts
Jason and LeeAnn had nearly 20
friends and family gathered to
