FROM BLYTH By Bonnie Gropp The Citizen There is a new bank manager at Blyth's CIBC branch. James Gunn, 25 comes to Blyth from London where he was assistant manager. He has been with CIBC for two-and-a-half years. Before taking on the assitant's job he was in a sales role. Gunn, who is single, now lives in Clinton. He is looking forward to meeting everybody and getting involved in the community. Though he is playing hockey in Clinton, his arrival, he said, was too late to sign on for other activities. "I Blyth UCW helps out The Blyth United Church Women met on Nov. 23 for a potluck supper. The guest speaker was Marilyn Vermeulen. She gets clothes and school supplies to the children of Uganda. The UCW donated school supplies to go to Kampala and $150 for a hockey bag to transport them. There was standing room only at the Blyth Branch on Saturday afternoon when Friends of the Library offered an illustrated talk on Surprising Nuggets from Blyth's Past by Brock and Janis Vodden. Brock recounted a selection of stories about events, buildings and people from 1850 to the 1940s and Janis spoke briefly about how they collect, store, and organize historical will hopefully be doing more in the spring and summer around here." We arc sorry to hear that Donna and Dan Taylor are closing their drugstore on Nov. 30 after 14 years of business. We will miss them greatly. Guest pianist was Amanda Swartzentruber. Ushering were Rob Mason, Brenda Brooks, Doug and Barb Howson. Emily Phillips invited everyone to worship. The hymn The Day You Gave Us Lord Has Ended was sung followed by the Prayer of Approach and Confession, the Assurance of Grace and everyone passing the peace of Christ to one another. The choir sang an anthem The Lord is My Shepherd. The children's hymn was Come In, Come In and Sit Down. Lorna Fraser presented the children with attendance awards. The lectionary scripture readings were read by the Glousher family. They were Genesis 1: 1-31, 2: 1-3, the responsive Psalm 63 and Matthew 8: 23-27. Emily Phillips' message was Rest. She spoke of Pharaoh's dreams and of dreams in the Bible. BUY? SELL?
