A Dickens
of a
reading
in Wingham
A special reading of A Christmas
Carol will take place this holiday in
Wingham.
A dramatic reading of the
timeless classic will take place on
Dec. 3 at St. Pauls Anglican
Church at 1:30 p.m.
The dramatic talents of Blyth
Festival artistic director Eric
Coates will be brought to the
project, as well as those of Phil
Beard, Kim Payne and Kyle Dore.
In addition to the dramatization
of the novel, music will be
provided as well. Local musicians
will provide everything from cello
to piano to flute to singing to this
particularly interesting take on the
book.
All proceeds from the event will
benefit Huron Hospice volunteer
service.
This reading was originally
toured by Charles Dickens himself,
and it came in at a running time of
over three hours. The current
. production, however, comes in at
less than 80 minutes. This is the
current production that is
sponsered in part with CBC radio.
The event has been going on
since the 90s, since it was started
by CBC radio newscaster Judy
Maddren.

tickets, call the office at (519) 357

People.
For children's time Rev. Ethel
Miner Clare read a story of Noah's
Ark. She read of people forgetting
about God and they began to do bad
things. There was only one good
man and his name was Noah. God
told Noah to build a big boat called
an ark. God showed Noah exactly
how to build it.
When the ark was finished God
told Noah to put two of every kind of
animal into the Ark. Then God shut
the door.
The rain began to fall until the
whole earth was covered with water.
Noah, his family and all the animals
were safe and dry.
When the rain stopped Noah sent a
dove out to look for land. The dove
came right back because it couldn't
find a place to rest.
The next time Noah sent the dove,
it brought back an olive leaf. The
water was going down. The next
time, the dove did not come back. It
was time to leave the ark.
Noah thanked God for keeping
them safe. Then God put a rainbow
in the sky. It was God's promise that
water would never again cover the
whole earth.
The children helped throughout
the story by making different sounds
of the stuffed animals they had.
The scripture lesson was taken
from Genesis 6-9.
Margaret Vincent and Nicole
Robinson took up the offering. The
closing hymn was I'm Gonna Live
