Greeting at Blyth United Church
on Sunday, Nov. 12 was Enid
MacDonald. Guest pianist was Lynn
Fischer. Ushering were Rob Mason,
Terry Richmond and Brenda Brooks.
Lorna Fraser invited everyone to
family night on Nov. 25. It begins
with a potluck supper.
Brenda Brooks thanked everyone
who attended the fall supper and
made it a great success. She also
thanked everyone who helped in any
way.
The choir sang an anthem.
Rev. Robin McGauley invited the
children to come forward. '
She then asked them some
questions about baptism.
She invited Rachel and Michael to
come to the front and present
Madison Rose Mary Bernard for
baptism.
After the singing of Halle, Halle,
Halle and The Lord's Prayer the
children went down to Sunday
school. 011ie Craig read the
lectionary scripture readings, 1
Samuel 1: 4-20 and 1 Samuel 2: 1-
10.
Rev. McGauley's message to the
adults was Hannah's Prayer. Hannah
had no children and was very lonely.
Hannah prayed to God and promised
that if God would give her a child
she would give him back to God to
spread the good word.
Hannah bore a son and that son
was Samuel.
If we have faith as Hannah did,
Rev. McGauley said, God will grant
us our prayers in a way that He feels
is right.
Everyone was invited to join the
Sunday school for birthday cake and
coffee in the narthex.
Happy anniversary to Doug and
Joyce Craig of Atwood who
celebrate on Nov. 26.
Sympathy is extended to Arletta

Citizen staff
Departing reeve Doug Layton
didn't say much in the way of
parting words on Monday, but did
bid his colleagues farewell and
wished them the best of luck.
"It's only those of us who have
served on municipal council that
understand what kind of time
commitment it is. You are constantly
away from your family. You
certainly don't do it for the money,
you do it because you love your
community and you want to give
back to it," councillor Archie
MacGowan said to Layton as the
session prepared to go in camera.
"I think you have fulfilled your
obligation to North Huron in
spades."
Layton, who lost out by less than
100 votes to Neil Vincent, listened
as several other members of council
commended him on his work and
wished him well in the future; a
future he looks forward to.
It was pointed out by his
colleagues that Layton always had
the utmost respect for his
colleagues, that he conducted his
business in a very prompt manner. It
was also brought to his attention in
jest, that there were plenty of other
committees that he could join.
Layton laughed it off, but says that
he is looking forward to some time
off and some relieved responsibility.
"Over the last week, I've felt quite
a weight lifted off my shoulders,"
Layton said.
"I'm looking forward to
retirement."
