Legion members set out and
returned to the Branch shortly after
11 a.m. They enjoyed coffee, hot
chocolate and muffins and donuts to
celebrate the successful morning.
Poppy chairman, Allyson Cardiff,
and helpers Terry and Judy
Buchanan appreciate everyone's
help.
Anyone may acquire a poppy from
the poppy boxes in Brussels and area
stores. Donations are gratefully
accepted.
Anyone who has not been
contacted about a wreath for
Remembrance Day, should contact
Allyson Cardiff.
The Saturday afternoon euchre
saw 13 tables of players. Many came
early to enjoy the craft sale and
lunch too.
The lucky first-place winners were
Rita and Alma: In second were
Carman and Ha Pollock. Third prize
went to John and Iola Subject. The
low prize went to pair Eileen Mann
and Kay Whaley. Lucky lone hand
winners were Dorothy Carter and
Clarence Hoy.
Euchre is every two weeks.

On Sunday, the craft show
continued. When the doors closed at
4 p.m. it didn't take long for the
vendors to pack up their wares and
be gone.
After a fast clean up of the floor,
chairs were set up for the Sunday
night dance. Everything was ready
by 5:30 p.m. and by 6 p.m. the first
dancers arrived.
The John Heaman band always
draws a large crowd. Over 100
enjoyed his music on this evening.
The winners of the October early
bird membership draw for their dues
was Nancy Ducharme. Comrade
Greg Wilson reports that
approximately 50 per cent of the
Branch membership has paid their
dues for 2007 and he hopes the other
50 per cent will soon be in to pay at
the early bird price of $45.
This Saturday will be
Remembrance Day services at the
Branch. The service will begin at
10:30 a.m. with the laying of
wreaths, followed by the Act of
Remembrance at 11 a.m. The church
service will follow at Melville
Presbyterian Church at 11:15 a.m.
Those returning to the Branch
following the church service are
invited to stay for a donation lunch.
The Huronlea service will follow
at 2 p.m.
We invite everyone to attend a
Remembrance Day service and if
you are unable to, please pause at 11
a.m. for two minutes of silence to
reverently remember those who died
in the service of our nation.
