Cheryl Cronin led a sing-song before worship started. A two-minute silence was held in memory of the World War veterans. The choir anthem was God as with Silent Hearts. Rev. Robin McGauley asked the chiidren to come to the front of the church and to bring the baskets of food for the North Huron F6od Bank along with them. She asked the children ,if they knew what the first commandment was. One answer was to have only one God, and another was love our neighbour as ourselves. She showed the children the Bible she had in her hands and asked them if they knew what language it was written in. It is Hebrew. The children sang The Lord's Prayer. Connor Brooks carried the candle, lit from the alter candles, as the children went down to Sunday school. Mark LeBel read the Lectionary scripture readings, Hebrews 9: 11- 14, the responsive Psalm 146 and Mark 12: 28-34. Rev. McGauley's message to the adults was What the World Needs Now. The most important commandment that Jesus taught was to love one's neighbour, she said. If we think of nothing else this Remembrance Day just remember to be a peaceful people. God created people in His image and calls on them to be peacemakers. Jesus taught everyone to Love one another. He calls on some to be brothers and sisters and to be gentle and kind. Everyone was given a pledge sheet to read during a moment of silence. One_ of the pledges was "I will treat all living things and our earth home with dignity and respect." The hymn Let There be Light, was followed by the Prayers of the People. Sympathy is extended to the family of Fred Howson who passed away Friday, Nov. 3.
