The community extends sincere sympathy to Gladys VanCamp, Nancy and Harold Jardin and family, Keith and Joyce VanCamp and family, Kevin VanCamp, Norma Davidson, Kay Harris and Glen and Verlaine VanCamp and families in the recent loss of Clare VanCamp on Sunday, Oct. 8. Although Clare will be missed greatly we shall all treasure the many wonderful memories which will remain with us forever. Visitation was held at the McBurney Funeral Home on Tuesday, Oct. 10. The funeral and service of Thanksgiving for the life of Clare was held on Wednesday, Oct. 11. Rev. Tom Wilson recited a number of scripture passages and the congregation sang What a Friend We Have in Jesus. The first reading, Ever Close in Mind and Heart was read by Rev. Wilson. The second reading, taken from Matthew 11: 25-30, was read by Joyce VanCamp. Nancy Jardin read the third reading from Luke 8: 5 -15. The Words of Remembrance of Clare's life were given by Rev. Wilson. The Apostles Creed was read together followed by the Prayers of the People, The Lord's Prayer and the Commendation. Other hymns that were sung included, The Lord Is My Shepherd, Amazing Grace and How Great Is Thy Faithfulness. The pallbearers, honorary pallbearers and flowerbearers gathered under the direction of the funeral direcfor to perform their contribution. The congregation reformed at the graveside in Brandon Cemetery in Belgrave. After the committal, prayers were offered by the priest. After the blessing and dismissal members of the congregation were invited to join Clare's family for a time of refreshment and femembrance , at the Women's Institute Hall. Thanksgiving visitors with Mabel Wheeler were Mr. and Mrs. Karry De Poy, Rachel and Andrew, New Hudson, Michigan; Mrs. Clyde Leigh, Grand Rapids, Michigan; Mr. and Mrs. H. Squires, Carsonville, Mithigan; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Charter, Teeswater; Mr. and Mrs.Vince Makas, London; Gordon Charter and Jim Coultes, Wingham. Nancy and Rick Ball of Hanover, Matthew Ball and friend of Kitchener, Sheila and Doug Cousins, Brandon and Jordyn of Guelph, Doreen and Rob Roy and Emily of Peterborough, Christina Roy of Waterloo, Richard Anderson and Anne Catherine, and Sarah and Dan and friend of Goderich were Thanksgiving Sunday dinner guests at the home of Ross and Barbara Anderson. The family of Les and Donna Shaw celebrated Thanksgiving at their parents' home. Jim and Mary Hunter were very blessed to have had most of the family home for Thanksgiving this year: Keith and Joyce VanCamp, Kate, Tim, Chanda and great- grandson Kash, Christopher and Nicole and Brody Casemore, Gwen MacLean and Marilyn and her friend Ben and Glen Hunter. On a beautiful Thanksgiving Sunday, the family of Bill and Muriel Coultes gathered with everyone home for the dinner and afternoon spent visiting. Present were: Mark and Janice Matheson, Lisa, home from Guelph University, where she had just been presented with another $1,000 scholarship, and her friend Joe; Laura, home from Conestoga College where she has been pitching for the Conestogo Cougars ladies' fastball team, and Jonathon of Molesworth; Steve and Joanne Robinson, Jeremy home from Fort McMurray,- Alberta, and his friend Jill, Nicole and Stephanie; Paul and Karen Cook, Amy, home from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, where she has been playing on the Laurier Hawkes ladies' volleyball team, Levi, Sean, Ellen, Sarah and Rachel, all of Belgrave; Scott and Andrea Stevenson, Mathew, Tyler and Spencer, and Brian and Alison Wightman, Autumn, Sydney, Mackenzie and Olivia, all of Auburn. Jim Davis of Seaforth also visited with the family. The community extends congratulations to Brian Sanders and Michelle Foster who were married on Oct. 7 at White Roads Pentecostal Church in Harriston. The community also extends The Belgrave Community Club met on Friday, Oct. 6 in the community centre for its regular October meeting, which also became an Alzheimer's coffee party. Muriel Coultes welcomed everyone to the meeting and after the singing of 0 Canada she read a poem, Slow Down October. Donna Shaw acted as secretary in the absence of Gladys-VanCamp. The Zone 8 annual fall rally was announced for Thursday; Oct. 19 at Grand Bend, Each club is asked to have a three to four minute skit or entertainment. The Community Club Christmas dinner was announced for Friday, Dec, 1. Tickets will be $11. Happy anniversary was sung to John and Kay Roberts who will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary Oct. 20. Kay Roberts introduced the speaker Jane Hoggart and her therapy dog, Daisy. The therapy dog program was started in October 1996 by the Godericli St. John Ambulance and they now have 20 active dogs in the program. These therapy dogs are trainedfor visits to nursing homes, hospitals, schools and. wherever they are needed to provide comfort and friendship to whoever they might meet. congratulations to Rev. John Roberts and Kay on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 20. Bob and Jane Grasby and Laura Johnston - spent Thanksgiving weekend with George and Mary Johnston and family at their rAtage in St. Joseph. Dale and Colleen Lamont of London and Jim and June Lamont enjoyed Thanksgiving Sunday dinner at the home of Mike and Lionelda Cottrill and family. John and Linda Campbell, Jeremy and Justin were Sunday Thanksgiving dinner guests at the home of George and Brenda Couckuyt in Grand Bend. Relatives came from Toronto, Brantford, London and Grand Bend. Although they were celebrating Thanksgiving it was also a surprise 40th wedding anniversary cake was decorated with an image of their wedding picture. They are never aggressive but are friendly even to those they seem to know cannot even speak. The volunteers who accompany them might make up to 60 visits a year in various facilities. Daisy showed the group some of the tricks she had been taught. FROM BELGRAVE Barbara Anderson thanked Jane and Daisy for their presentation. The meeting closed with the singing of God Save The Queen and a social time of coffee and cookies was enjoyed. A donation was forwarded to the Alzheimer Society of Huron County.
