Morris-Turnberry council briefs
Council passes motion to
establish wind energy policy
The council of Morris-Turnberry
passed a motion at its Sept. 5
meeting to establish a wind energy
policy that would address concerns
and adhere to provincial guidelines
that exist.
The policy will be brought back to
council for further consideration
once completed.

Councillor Neil Warwick
suggested that the municipality have
a park improvement plan for the
Belgrave, Bluevale and Turnberry
parks for 2007.

The general accounts in the
amount of $273,914.85 were
approved for payment.

Council gave its "wholehearted"
support to the Fair Funding for
Small Communities of Ontario"

The municipality will file the
request for approval of a financial
contribution towards the Well Aware
program.

The rental fees for water meetings
will be waived by the Belgrave
Community Centre and the costs
will be added to the centre's
expenses.

Drainage maitenance was
approved for the Blyth Creek drain
at South Part Lot IS, Conc. 8 and the
Nichol drain, South Part Lot 23,
Conc. 5.

The extended warranty for the
grader will be purchased. This is an
additional 48 months and 2,500
hours, parts and labour, power train
and components for $3,700 plus
taxes.
Council approved the purchase of
steel tandem fenders and flaps for
$2,000 plus taxes.
The 1986 grader will be traded in
for $18,000 plus taxes.

At the Sept. 19 meeting a
presenation was made by Pam
Scharf and Don Hullah of the Huron
County Health Unit.
They spoke on the septic
reinspection program in Huron and
proposed for Lower Town. There are
9,000 septic systems in the county.
Mayor Dorothy Kelly asked what
happens if an owner can't afford to
fix their septic system and was told
that under the building code the
municipality can finance the repair
and apply the charge to the taxes.
The program is voluntary. The
health unit sends a letter to all
residents but only studies the ones
who volunteer.
The health unit has a data base for
Lower 'Mown and a copy of the letter
will be sent to Morris-Turnberry
before it is sent to the residents.

Road accounts totalling $282,223.97
were approved for payment.
