Well the Brussels fair is done for
another year and it was a good one to
remember.
The fun and excitement in the air
on Tuesday night is one of my
favourite things of the fair every year.
The kids checking out the midway
and then dashing off to see how they
did with their exhibits is such fun to
watch. Everyone stopping to smell
the flowers on display is another
favourite. Adults mingling about
seeing how the exhibits are this year,
stopping at the food booths and
chatting with friends and neighbours
makes the Tuesday evening visit such
fun.
The new display arrangements
were appreciated and made viewing
more relaxed with the excellent
school section in its own special spot.
The better spacing let visitors have a
better look. The speaking and the
entertainment had less competition
from the expected fair noise while
letting the visiting and mingling
continue unaffected.
It was a nice surprise on
Wednesday to view the parade. That
was a tough call with the rain playing
about all morning. So thanks to the
folks who took the chance and yes
did get a little damp but we truly did
appreciate your effort.
So to all the board and the many
volunteers who make the fair such a
great tradition — thank you.
In case you- didn't drive by our
place after Wednesday last week you
would have missed a life-sized Ralph
on a bicycle with a sign indicating
safer riding, many balloons and silver
65! It's nice to have friends who wish
to acknowledge the high points of
life.
Ralph's wrist fracture from the
bicycle tumble was their way of
saying Happy Birthday to the
enjoyment of many.
In this house birthdays are a time to
pause and appreciate the person so
needing 65 years of appreciation
needed to be spread out a little. So we
enjoyed food and friends here on
Thursday, helped niece Rhonda
Heise and Terry get married on
Friday and did more birthdaying with
family on Saturday. So for the
birthday that you get paid for
breathing Ralph was well celebrated.
Now if I can put my hands on a
couple of things that got tucked away
while getting ready I'll be relieved.
Clarence and Marie McCutcheon
were celebrating 50 years of marriage
on Saturday with lots of food, fun and
laughs at the BMG Centre. Pictures
being worth a thousand words were a
real hit as their past was brought out
for all to see and thoroughly enjoy.
So to a very fine couple
congratulations and continued love
for life.
If you see a tall blonde man from
the north yes Peter Workman is in the
area for some holidays,. It's always
good to see Peter but it's some of the
artwork of the northern communities
that he brings to share that makes the
visits even more exciting. A very real
looking polar bear carved from
marble, a baby bonnet with beading
and fur and a watercolour on
parchment were some of the pieces of
beauty that make awesome the word
to use for this art.
Oh we live in a wonderful world.
Bye now, Betty G.W.
