Challenge: Finding the time to be active for sixty minutes per day Solution: Spread physical activity throughout your daily routine to work up to 60 minutes. As you progress to more intense exercise you can cut back to 30 minutes 4 times per week. Get started by: • Walking for 10 minutes several times a day — walk instead of taking the car to the store, or mailbox, slip out for a walk at lunchtime, or join a friend for a morning or evening walk. • Walking briskly, jogging, cycling, swimming, skipping or dancing for 20 minutes or more. • Substituting an activity break for a coffee break — bend, stretch, and flex to keep your muscles relaxed and joints mobile for 10 minutes at a time. The evenly-matched teams each had many scoring chances, but Brussels' goalie Matt Terpstra finished the game with a shutout. The score was 0-0. The next game was against Listowel. It too was an evenly- matched contest. Brussels never gave up. Lexi Smith, James Dow, Dalen Martin, Laura Souch and Carl Dow had many scoring chances but failed to score. Terpstra had another flawless game. The final score was 0-0. The year-end party was held at Tim and Linda Dow's. Medals were handed out. Most sportsmanlike was given to James Dow. Most improved went to Joel Kipfer and best goalie went to Matt Terpstra. Coaches were Tim Dow and Cheryl Souch. U-Ss lose 2 in tourney The Brussels U-8s played in their year-end tournament which took place in Listowel. The first game was against Howick. Howick scored, but Brussels' Logan Kellington tied it. Derrick Waechter played next for the first half. In the second half Howick had a few more scoring opportunities on Cody Harding. The final score was 6-1. The second game was against Elma II. Waechter played a great game in net. Delayna Smith scored Brussels' only goal. The final score was 2-1. MacKenzie McNichol, Hudson Smith played well. Great defence was supplied by Connor Bridge and Harding, Nolan Johnson, Kyle Cronin, Sarah Strome and Julia Van Ness. Darren Evans • played well as forward. Medals were given out to all the players. Waechter got the best goalie award. Jake Mitchell also played well in net all season. Smith was the most sportsman- like and Harding was most improved. Challenge A Blyth I player challenges a Wingham I player for the ball in the over-18 soccer league tournament held in Blyth Aug 19-20. Wingham went on to win the match. Winners were: share-the-wealth, Leona McDonald, Florence Holmes; lucky ticket, Lloyd Smith; high, Viola Adams, Dorothy Martin; lone hands, Doris Matheson, Hilda Holmes, Shirley and Adrian Verstoep; low, Florence Holmes, Lloyd Smith.
