"The relationship between
organized labour and United Ways
across Canada is deeply rooted in
history and it is with pleasure that
we come together to celebrate that
relationship right here in Huron
County," said Kimberley Payne,
executive director, Huron United
Way.
"This is our sixth annual Labour
Day parade and barbeque and we
would like to see it grow more each
year. Our partnership with the Huron
United Way last year was very
successful and having the honour of
helping kick-off the 2006 United
Way campaign is a perfect fit for the
Labour Council."
"The Huron United Way helps
people in need and a large part of the
funds that they raise come from
payroll deductions and employer
matching. The Huron District
Labour Council certainly looks
forward to many more years
of partnership with the Huron
United Way," said 'Jim Vance;
president, Huron District Labour
Council.
For more information call the
United Way office at 519-524-7900

Blyth United Church. I attended the
service at Trinity Anglican Church
and enjoyed the service very much.
Greeting at Blyth United Church
on Sunday, Aug. 20 were Fred Meier
and Joan Clark. Guest pianist was
Amanda Schwartzentruber.
The children's hymn was Children
of Jerusalem.
David Onn read the scripture from
Matthew 6: 25-34. The PSalm 138
was read responsively followed by
Ecclesiastes 7: 11-14.
Tom Dunbar's message to the
adults was A Funny Thing
Happened on the Way to the Pulpit.
The average adult laughs about 17
times a day. There is a story of a
patient in a hospital who recovered
because of laughter. Worry is a
waste of time, said Mr. Dunbar.
Jesus said, "Do not worry there is
nothing you can do."

A monthly community kitchen
which brings local community
members together to cook a healthy
meal has been started in Blyth.
The community kitchen is being
held in the Trinity Anglican church
once a month.
The idea was started by Donna
Middelkamp with the help of Pam
Harrington and Vicki White. Amy
Zoethout of Women Today of Huron
also has lent a helping hand.
Middelkamp said everyone pitches
in for the low cost of food, then takes

containers of freezer-ready servings
home, to be re-heated at a later date.
This is great for the working
family, tight budget, or no time to
cook, she said
It is also a chance to meet and
socialize with other local community
members.
Though there hasn't been a very
big turnout, Middelkamp hopes that
it will grow over the next couple of
meetings.
The next community kitchen will
be held on Sept. 19 starting at
10:30 a.m. If you would like to-
participate call Middelkamp at 519-
523-9712.
