Obituaries
GERALD NELSON GOVIER
Gerald Nelson Govier passed
away in Clinton Public Hospital
Aug. 6, 2006. He was born Sept. 30,
1932 in East Wawanosh Twp.
Mr. Govier was predeceased by
his parents Margaret (Govier) and
Earl Caldwell and his sister Faye
Caldwell.
He is survived by one brother Jack
and Erlene Caldwell of Blyth.
Mr. Govier will be lovingly
missed by his nieces and nephews
Lorna (Randy) Fraser of Blyth,
Nelson Caldwell, Gail (Ron) Ulch
and Trent Caldwell, all of Goderich,
Jackie Caldwell of Blyth and Chris
He'ard-Caldwell of London. He will
be sadly missed by great-nieces and
nephews Joe Fraser, Kathy (Ron)
Abell-Rinn, Cassandra and Katrina
Ulch, Johnathan, Jared, Jordon,
Kaylen, Nicole, James, Jessica,
Jarvis and Cody Caldwell, and great-
great-nieces and nephews Candice
and Braidon Abell-Rinn and Ty
Fraser. Mr. Govier was also
predeceased by one great-nephew
Karl Ulch.
Gerald (Jerry) was born and raised
in East Wawanosh Twp.
In 1956 he boarded a ship as a
cook and sailed for some 30 years
before retiring in Blyth.
When he retired he enjoyed
camping and his flowers. Mostly he
was there for his family and
extended families. He remained the
anchor of the family, through many
events. He enjoyed hearing about
other's adventures, seeing pictures
of their travels and hearing their
stories. He enjoyed life.
A funeral service for family and
friends was held at the Falconer
Funeral Homes Ltd., Blyth
Visitation Centre, 407 Queen St.,
Blyth on Wednesday, Aug. 9 at 2
p.m. Rev. Pat Cook officiated.
Nelson, Johnathan, Jared and
Jordon Caldwell sang one of Uncle
Jerry's favourite songs Country
Road. Lorna Fraser read a poem
titled The Ship. Kathy Abell-Rinn
then talked about her memories of a
very special uncle.
Carrying the floral tributes were
great-nieces and nephews Kaylen
and Nicole Caldwell, Cassandra
Ulch, Jordon, James and Jessica
Caldwell and Kourtney Taggart.
Gerald was carried to rest by his
boys Randy and Joe Fraser, Nelson,
Johnathan, Jared Caldwell and Ron
Ulch.
Interment was in Blyth Union
Cemetery.
MARGARET ELIZABETH
BEITZ
Mrs. Betty Beitz of the
Municipality of Morris-Turnberry,
formerly of Guelph passed away at
Braemar Retirement Centre,
Municipality of Morris-Turnberry
on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006. She was
85.
The former Betty Wilson was the
wife of the late Edward Beitz who
predeceased her in 2001. She was
the mother of William Ross (Bill)
Beitz and his friend Charlotte of
Parry Sound. She was the sister of
Aleda McFaul of Picton, Frederick
and Kay Wilsdn of Wellington,
Douglas and Diane Wilson of Picton
and Beryl and Murdoch MacGowan
of Belgrave. She was the sister-in-
law of Cal Harper of Richmond Hill.
Mrs. Beitz will also be lovingly
remembered by grandchildren
Cheryl and Doug Martin, Jeffrey and
Danielle Beitz and Greg and Debbie
Beitz and nine great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by daughter
Brenda Elizabeth in 1989, brother
Irwin Wilson in 1944 and sister Jean
Harper in 2006.
Visitation will be at the McBurney
Funeral Home, Wingham on Friday
at noon until the time of the
memorial service at 1:30 p.m. Father
John Johnson will officiate.
Cremation with placement of
ashes will be in Memory Gardens,
Breslau, Ontario.

MARY TERESA COURTNEY
Mary Teresa Courtney (Austin)
beloved wife of the late Joseph
Courtney of Dungannon passed
away at University Hospital, London
on Aug. 4, 2006. She was in her 80th
year.
Born on Nov. 18, 1926 in Ashfield
Twp. to the late Francis Austin and
Margaret McNamara, Mrs. Courtney
is survived by three sons, Gary
(Chris) Courtney of Blyth, Brian
Courtney of Texas and Eric (Anna)
Courtney of Burlington, eight
grandchildren and one great-
granddaughter. She is also survived
by brothers John (Rose) Austin of
Goderich and Eldon Austin of
Dungannon.
Mrs. Courtney was predeceased
by four sons, Joseph in infancy,
Wayne (1984), Floyd (1988) and
Carl (1990) and her brothers Vincent
and Wilfred Austin.
Visitation was held at MacKenzie
and McCreath Funeral Home,
Lucknow on Aug. 8, 2006 from 2 - 4
p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. with vigil prayers
lat 8:30 p.m. Funeral mass from St.
Joseph's RC Church, Kingsbridge
was held on Wednesday, Aug. 9 at 11
a.m. with Father J. Jasica officiating.
Grandsons Nick, Mike, Dale,
Ryan and .Terry Courtney and
nephew Joe Austin were pallbearers.
Flowerbearers were grandchildren
Sarah, David, Brett and Elisha
Courtney.
Interment was in St. Joseph's
Cemetery, Kingsbridge.
Donations to Heart and Stroke or
Canadian Diabetes were appreciated
as expressions of sympathy.
HERM REININK
The Lord called home Herm
Reinink of Clinton and formerly of
Hullett Twp. at Maitland Manor,
Goderich on Monday, July 31, 2006.
He was in his 79th year.
He was the beloved of husband of
Wilma Reinink. Mr. Reinink was the
loving father of Hank and Shirley
Reinink of Londesborough, Johanna
and Herman Ramaker of Clinton,
John and Ann Reinink of Auburn,
Gieny and Esau Tiesma of Bayfield,
Reah Reinink of Clinton, and
George and Lois Reinink of Blyth.
He was also loved by 21
grandchildren and five great-
grandchildren. He was the dear
brother and brother-in-law of Rika
and Lauw Heres, Annigien
Wilpshaar, Dirkje Lennips, all of the
Netherlands, Hendrika Jurjens of
Strathroy and Bill and Betty Lennips
of Chesley.
Mr. Reinink was predeceased by
one sister-in-law and by five
brothers-in-law.
Friends were received at the
Falconer Funeral Home, 153 High
St., Clinton on Wednesday from 2 - 4
p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. The funeral
service was held at the Clinton
Christian Reformed Church on
Thursday, Aug. 3, at 10:30 a.m.
Interment was in Clinton
Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial
donations to the Canadian Cancer
Society or the Heart and Stroke
Foundation would be greatly
appreciated.
Pallbearers were grandsons Erik
Ramaker, Jason Ties ma, Greg
Tiesma, Jonathon Reinink, Aaron
Reinink and Gerritt Reinink.
