The news about your
neighbours in Londesborough
this week ranges from the
sublime to the unfortunate.
All of you will now want to
fork over the extra money in
the future to play Encore
when purchasing those 649
lottery tickets. Playing Encore
won Lorne and Geraldine
Dale a cool $100,000
recently. The couple always
buys their chances at the
Suncoast Variety and Video
Store in Goderich behind the
McDonald's Restaurant. They
have been in the habit of
purchasing two tickets each
week — one for each of them.
Lome's ticket was the big
winner but Geraldine also
won $5 that day. The couple
picked up their winnings in
Toronto on Aug. 2. As excited
as they were about their good
fortune, the other couple there
that day were even more
excited for they had won
$1,000,000.
The money has been
banked and there are no
immediate plans to spend it
but rumour has it that Lorne
and Geraldine's children will
be receiving a nice monetary
gift.

to work that morning in the
Dublin area when his pickup
truck suddenly left the road
and struck a bridge abutment.
There were no witnesses to
the accident and his mother
doubts that they will ever be
certain as to how the accident
happened.
On July 27, Tim was moved
from a London hospital to
Clinton for recovery from
multiple surgeries. Visiting is
still restricted to immediate
family only and he will need
your thoughts and prayers for
some time yet. Eventually
Tim will be heading back to
London for some
rehabilitation.
Tim's mother, Jackie,
thanks everyone for their
concern over the past month
and their calls, etc. She
especially thanks Helen Dale
for picking up her mail during
her weeks of trips to London
and to Louis Greidanus and
family for keeping her grass
cut.
Just as villagers take the
initiative to help when a
neighbour is in trouble, it
seems the village needs you
also "to be your brother's
keeper". I've heard recently
about vehicles being rifled
overnight and daytime home
invasions. Nothing of great
value has so far been taken
but the inconvenience of
replacing pfoperty can be
frustrating.
This is Londesborough, not
some large city. We will all
need to be ever watchful and
alert for, anything that seems
out of the ordinary.
You might also want to be
on the lookout for a coyote

our home was full of guests,

out of doors under blue skies
clear of any smog. Both ball
diamonds in the village were
busy and all day we enjoyed
the chatter and laughter of
children, the cheering of
adults and the crack of the
bats. From overhead came a
sound we have come to
associate with summer, the
drone of small private aircraft.
The early evening brought
the sounds of Stand Firm, the
contemporary rock and
gospel group bringing their
unique style of ministry from
the lawn at the Fellowship
Bible Chapel. Later clear
skies filled with a nearly full
moon and a zillion stars were
a treat not seen in the city.
And overall was a prevailing
sense of peace and quiet.
Sunday morning, as I
listened to the comments of
our visitors, I gave thanks
once more for the little part of
Eden we call Londesborough.
