The basketball court will be ready
to be used after the reunion.
Detailed plans have been
completed for a "first-class"
skateboard park _ with the
construction of these ramps, etc.
beginning as soon as the funds are in
place, said Howson.
"The skateboard park has been
designed for skateboarders, in-line
skaters and bikers of all ability
levels. It is the desire of the
committee to provide a 'progressive
environment' for all individuals."
It has also been noted that the park
will be an ideal place for step
aerobics.
For young children, a hopscotch
court can be added to the basketball
court, said Howson. In the winter,
the equipment will be stored and the
pad can be used for street hockey.
"All this provides activities for all
ages. In the future, benches or
bleachers will be added for
spectators."
Plans are being discussed for the
park, when completed, to include
skateboard lessons, demonstrations,
competitions, etc. As well, serious
consideration is being given to
monitoring, maintenance and
supervision.

BLYTH UNITED CHURCH
Greeting at Blyth United Church
on Sunday, July 23 were Tom and
Kathleen Dunbar. Ushering were
Joann MacDonald, Cliff Snell and
Lois vanVliet. Guest pianist was
Amanda Schwartzentruber.
. Tom Dunbar welcomed everyone
to church in the absence of Rev.
Robin McGauley.
The choir sang the anthem Make
Me a Blessing.
The children's hymn was Come
Children Join to Sing. Mr. Dunbar
told the story of a little girl taking
her father a treat on a hot afternoon
to the well he was digging. He was
undesirables, but that it will be a
first-class sports activity centre for
everyone," said Howson.
In order for this to be possible, the
committee is asking for co-operation
and help from the youth, their
parents, other interested adults as
well as 'the other sports associations
in the village.
"The committee has been truly
pleased with the financial response
of our Blyth and area community.
Donations are still being gratefully
accepted. Please contact Diane
Ferguson 519-523r4563 • or Susan
Howson 519-523-9436 if you are
able to help. Donations may also be
left at Total Fitness in Goderich."
The committee has been working
diligently to raise the needed funds.
Several more events have been
planned —A poultry products sale #2
in mid-August (call Joan Caldwell
519-523-4799) and Tablescapes (in
co-operation with the Blyth Festival)
so far down that it was dark and she
couldn't see him. He asked her to
jump and have faith he would catch
her.
So the little girl had faith and
jumped into the arms of her father.
This is the kind of faith that people
have in God.
Emily Phillips read the scripture
from Luke 1: 67-80. Matthew 5: 13-
16 and Psalm 4 was read
responsively.
Mr. Dunbar's message to the
adults was Peace Candle. He told the
story of a little town in Russia that
was struggling to exist and of Rev.
Mooney coming to the town. An
older woman placed in his hand a
small amount of money and asked
him to put it towards world peace.
He wondered what he could do with
this little bit of money, so he bought
a small candle and lit it in his church
as a symbol of peace. His
congregation decided to buy small
candles and give them to visitors
coming to their church to take back
to their home church as a sign of
peace.

"The youth park committee would
also like to congratulate Micah
Loder (a driving force on the Youth
Park Design Committee) for placing
first in the Regional Skateboard
Competition in London in June. On
July 23 he placed eighth out of 40
participants with the top 10
receiving special recognition at the
Provincial Competition in
Mississauga. Well done, Micah!"
