BLYTH UNITED CHURCH Greeting at Blyth United Church on Sunday, July 23 were Tom and Kathleen Dunbar. Ushering were Joann MacDonald, Cliff Snell and Lois vanVliet. Guest pianist was Amanda Schwartzentruber. . Tom Dunbar welcomed everyone to church in the absence of Rev. Robin McGauley. The choir sang the anthem Make Me a Blessing. The children's hymn was Come Children Join to Sing. Mr. Dunbar told the story of a little girl taking her father a treat on a hot afternoon to the well he was digging. He was undesirables, but that it will be a first-class sports activity centre for everyone," said Howson. In order for this to be possible, the committee is asking for co-operation and help from the youth, their parents, other interested adults as well as 'the other sports associations in the village. Emily Phillips read the scripture from Luke 1: 67-80. Matthew 5: 13- 16 and Psalm 4 was read responsively. Mr. Dunbar's message to the adults was Peace Candle. He told the story of a little town in Russia that was struggling to exist and of Rev. Mooney coming to the town. An older woman placed in his hand a small amount of money and asked him to put it towards world peace. He wondered what he could do with this little bit of money, so he bought a small candle and lit it in his church as a symbol of peace. His congregation decided to buy small candles and give them to visitors coming to their church to take back to their home church as a sign of peace. on Oct. 28.
