Brussels Livestock report
1,668 head of cattle on offer at sales
Total receipts for Brussels
Livestock for the week ending July 7
were 1,668 head of cattle, 855 lambs
and goats.
On Tuesday the fed steers and
heifers sold on a steady market. The
choice steers and heifers sold $96 to
$100 with sales to $104,75. Second
cut sold $92 to $96. Cows sold on a
fully steady market. On Thursday
the veal sold $2 to $5 higher. The
lambs sold $5 to $10 higher. The
sheep sold $10 higher. On Friday
calves and yearlings sold on a good
active solid trade.
There were 150 steers on offer.
Thirteen steers consigned by Doug
Shiell, Wingham, averaging 1,513
lbs. sold for an average of $97.41
with a blue belgium-x steer weigh-
ing 1,475 lbs. selling to Dominion
Meat Packers for $104.75. Twelve
steers consigned by Jerryview Farms
Ltd., Mildmay, averaging 1,490 lbs.
sold for an average of $97.95 with
sales to $100.

for $65. A charolais bull consigned
by Ken Maclean, Lucknow, weigh-
ing 1,450 lbs. sold for $63.50.
There were 219 head of veal on
offer. Good holstein sold $80 to $90
with sales to $95; medium holstein,
$70 to $80; plain holstein, $60 to
$70; heavy, $70 to $80. Six veal con-
signed by Arnold Lamb, Goderich,
averaging 568 lbs. sold for an aver-
age of $116.40 with sales to $124.
