Brussels GRADUATION
Valedictorian says time to make a difference is now
r71
2006
By Andrew
Watson
If there were
ever a time to
dare, to make a
difference, to
embark on
something worth
doing, it is now.
Not for any grand cause, necessarily
— but for something that tugs at your
heart, something that is worth your
aspiration, something that is your
dream.
You owe it to yourself, to make
your days count. Graduation is upon
us, and with it open many doors of
opportunity. As we begin our
journey, we leave behind old friends,
and familiar faces.
Graduation, the awaited day for
many. As we venture out into the
world, and new possibilities become
visible, we will remember this day.
This is the day when the old doors
faded and new ones opened.
Appearing with them new
opportunities, and dreams.
May we strive toward success and
fight life's battles head on. We have
the power to carve our futures, as Dr.
Seuss would put it: "You have brains
in your head. You have feet in your
shoes. You can steer yourself in any
direction you choose."
When we were only little we
learned lessons that would last a
lifetime. We learned to respect, to
play fair, and to be a good person.
We learned to be kind to our friends
and to have room in our hearts to
those who ask entrance. These
lessons were never forgotten, we
were reminded through the years by
the acts our teachers, friends and our
families.
Through practise of these skills we
became who we are today. The
lessons remain the same and as we
move on we begin to influence those
around us, teaching them lessons
they will never forget, just many of
you have done for us.
When the trails of life had us
down, and that last minute math
homework had us up past our
bedtime someone was always there.
It was our parents who made our
lunches, and accompanied us in the
all hours of the night when
homework had us scrambling. Help
and guidance came in the form of
our friends. And not to forget the
teachers, who helped us through
math and taught us the difference
between an ocean and a lake.
Do you ever wonder what the
future holds in store? Will Robert
become a tradesman like his father?
Will Trista become a flight nurse,
saving the lives of many? And will
Matt be the next to say, "You're
fired!" like Donald Trump before
him?
We all have dreams, and we know
that with determination and a little
luck we will succeed. Graduation is
the pathway to our futures. No ocean
too small, no sky too high for the
class of 2006.
Graduation
A New Beginning
By Joanna Fuchs
As you make a new beginning in
your life, be aware of important
things you didn't learn in school: As
you pursue your dreams, remember
to take time to help and serve others,
even if doing so slows you down a
little.
As you explore and develop your
unique talents, remain humble,
realizing that your special abilities
are gifts from God. As life hands you
challenges, welcome them as ways to
become smarter and stronger.
As you acquire material things,
know that your most important
possessions are honesty, integrity,
and the desire to make a difference.
Congratulations, graduate.
