in provincial track and field

NOTICE of NOMINATION
for OFFICE
Notice is hereby given to the Municipal Electors
of the Municipality of Morris-Turnberry
Nominations, for a (4) four year term of office, are now being received for
candidates for the 2006 Municipal Election. Nomination papers may be filed
on the prescribed form, during the following times:
• During normal office hours until September 29,2006 and on
• Nomination Day- Friday September 29, 2006, nomination
papers may be Mid anytime between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.
Nomination papers may be filed at the office of the Clerk, at the Municipal
Office 41342 Morris Road, RR4, Brussels, ON. Nomination forms and full
particulars of the nomination process can be obtained from the office of the
Clerk in which nomination papers must be filed, or telephone inquiries may
be made to 519-887-6137.
Nominations may be made by completing and filing in the office of the
Clerk of the Municipality of Morris-Tumberry, the following:
¤ A signed consent to the nominations
¤ A declaration of qualification by the candidate
+ A $200.00 filing fee for the Head of Council and $100.00 filing fee
for all other offices (cash, money order or certified cheque)
¤ Identification of the candidate
Municipal Positions to be elected:
I. Mayor (One (1) elected at Large)
2. Councillor, Morris Ward (Three (3) to be elected)
3. Councillor, Turnberry Ward (Three (3) to be elected)
4. School Board Positions shared with Other Municipalities
1) One (1) member of the Avon Maitland District School Board
representing the Township of North Huron, Township of Howick and
the Municipality of Morris-Turnberry. Nomination papers are to be
filed with the Clerk of Township of North Huron.
2) One (1) member of the Huron Perth Roman Catholic Separate
School Board representing the Town of Goderich, Town of Clinton,
Town of Wingham, Village of Blyth and Townships of Colborne,
Hullett, Tumberry, Morris, East Wawanosh, West Wawanosh,
Howick, Ashfield and Goderich Township. Nomination papers are to
be filed with the Clerk of the Town of Goderich.
3) One (1) Trustee representing the Regional Municipality of
Waterloo, County of Wellington, County of Middlesex, County of
Perth and County of Huron on the French-Language Public School
Board. Nomination papers are to be filed with the Clerk of the City
of London.
4) One (1) Trustee representing the Counties of Lambton, Huron and
Bruce on the French Language Separate District School Board.
Nominations papers are to be filed with the Clerk of the City of
Sarnia.
Electors are hereby given notice that if a greater number of candidates are
certified than are required to fill the said offices, an Election will be held.
Voting with be by 'Vote by Mail' and Voting Date will be Monday,
November 13th, 2006.

Brussels U-8s play
exciting match
against Elma III
The Brussels U-8 Is —travelled to
Elma Tuesday, June 27, for an
exciting game against Elma
The game ended with Brussels
losing to Elma 2-1 but the team
played spectacularly. Cassidy
Stevenson and Erin McMahon were
amazing in net and Kailey Wheeler
scored the goal with assists going to
Bennett Newel and Cassidy
Blyth's Boven scores
game's final goal
Stevenson.
The U-8 team I travelled to Elma
Tuesday, July 4 and though the team
lost 7-1 they played well.
Kyle MacFarlane scored for
Brussels with assists going to
Gregory Hiusser and Russell
McMahon. Stevenson and
McMahon again played very well in
net. Way to go team!
It was a great game for both teams,
but in the end the score was 6-3, a
win for Blyth. Coach Lauren
Bouman was very pleased with
Lightning's effort for the game.
Five area athletes have qUalified to
go on to compete at the Royal
Canadian Legion provincial track
and field meet.
The meet will be held on July 14
and 15 in Timmins.
The athletes competed at
Davidson Centre in Kincardine at
the Legion's District C meet. It was
a very hot and humid day which
made competing very hard. There
were over 300 athletes in attendance.
The Blyth Legion Branch 420 is
proud to have three athletes going on
to compete.
Andy Egli qualified for the 100 m
and 200 m sprints in the 15-and-
under age group. Egli will be
entering Grade 9 at St. Anne's in the
Town and Country Support
Services will be golfing for seniors
on Saturday, Aug. 12 at Woodlands
Links, Clinton, starting at 10 a.m.
The tournament includes 18 holes
of golf, a full steak dinner, and
prizes for everyone. The hole-in-one
prize includes two tickets to any
destination that Air Canada serves in
North America and is sponsored by
Craig, McDonald, Reddon
Insurance Brokers of Mildmay.

On June 27, the Londesborough
Mites traveled to Holmesville, only
to suffer a 21-8 defeat.
The defeat was despite the efforts
of Jordan deBoer who hit a triple,
and Kyle Pollard who hit a double
which scored two runs.
Emily Bergsma did her part when
she got an out at third base.
On June 30, the Londesborough
Mites, with home field advantage,
defeated the Crediton Mites,
11-10.
Kyle Pollard continued his efforts
for the team when he got two outs at
second and hit three home runs. One
fall. He is the son of Arnold and ,
Theresa Egli and lives at RR3,
Walton.
Adam Young qualified for the
discus in the 17-and-under category.
He will be entering Grade 12 at F.E.
Madill in the fall. Young lives in
Blyth and is the son of Alan and
BrendaYoung.
Drew Taylor qualified for the 400
m hurdles but was selected by the
committee to enter the hepthalon
based on his overall achievement.
Taylor will be competing in seven
events over a two-day competition.
The events are 110 m hurdles, 200 m
sprint, 800 m, long jump, high jump,
shot put and javelin. The hep is a 17-
and-under event.

This tournament is a major
fundraiser for Town and Country
and all proceeds go directly back to
help senior citizens, frail elderly,
disabled adults and children with
services to help them live
independently.
Town and Country assisted more
than 4,000 people in Huron and
Perth Counties last year with
programs like — Meals on Wheels,
Transportation Services, Home
Help, Friendly Visiting, Dining for
of his runs scored three runs, and
one of his runs was a grand slam.
Adam Westerhout tagged for an
out at second.
Jason Salverda hit two triples.
On July 7 the Mites experienced
an 18-14 defeat at the hands of
Benmiller I Mites, despite home
field advantage.
Kyle Pollard hit another grand
slam. Adam Westerhout continued
his work for the team when he
caught a pop fly.
Tyler Berry hit two home runs and
a two-run triple. Patrick Bergsma hit
a two-run triple.
Taylor will be entering Grade 11.
He is the son of Jim and Crystal
Taylor and lives at RR3, Walton.
The Brussels Legion Branch 218
is also a proud sponsor of two
athletes. Ami Schimanski qualified
for shotput and discus in the 17-and-
under age group. She will be
entering Grade 11 at F.E. Madill in
the fall. She is the daughter of Frank
and Jennie Schimanski and lives in
Brussels.
Darby Alcorn qualified for discus
and shot in the 17-and-under
category. She will be entering Grade
11 in the fall at F.E. Madill.-Alcorn
lives in Brussels and is the daughter
of Mary Anne Bernard and Jeff
Alcorn.
Seniors and Seniors' Exercise
Classes. Last year the agency

PeeWee Its win
On July 4, The Londesborough
PeeWee Its defeated Seaforth 12-10
on Seaforth's field.
The teams seemed evenly
matched except in the third inning
when Londesborough became a
powerhouse and scored seven runs
to Seaforth's three.
Seaforth pitchers Dustin and Cory
pitched a strikeout each.
The Londesborough coach stated,
"The boys placed well as a team */
keep the game close."
