Brussels Livestock report
Fed steers, heifers sell steady at sale
Total receipts for Brussels
Livestock for the week ending June
30 were 1,675 head of cattle, 803
lambs and goats. On Tuesday the fed
steers and heifers sold on a strong
market. The choice steers and heifers
sold $96 to $100 with sales to
$107.25. Second cut sold $92 to $96.
Cows sold steady: On Thursday the
veal sold $2 to $5 higher. The lambs
sold on a strong trade. On Friday
calves and yearlings sold $2 to $4
higher.
There were 235 steers on offer.

lbs. sold for an average of $101.61
with a limousin steer weighing 1,380
lbs. selling to Dominion Meat
Packers for $107. Eight steers con-

lines, and are based on the current
organization of the United Church
Women at the four levels of the
church, (local, Presbyterial,
Conference and National) recogniz-
ing that organizational differences

The UCWs are encouraged to use
these guidelines to best meet their
needs so as to be able to fulfill the
organization's purpose as effectively
and as faithfully as possible,
The booklet contains information
on responsibilities of officers at the
four levels, how to keep records and
financial information, as well as var-
ious services for starting a new
UCW, closing Or disbanding a UCW,
services for installing officers, a
Memorial service as well as lists of
resources available, and how to
obtain them.
It also explains how to apply for
heifer weighing 1,315 lbs. sold to
Ryding Regency.
There were 196 cows on offer. DI
and D2 cows sold $38 to $48 with
sales to $60; D3, $34 to $37; D4,
$12 to $22. A limousin cow con-
signed by Berkana Farms, Brussels,
weighing 1,640 lbs. sold for $43.50
to Byron Sedore. A gray cow con-
signed by Martin Metske, Lucknow,
weighing 1,550 lbs. sold for $43.50
with sales to $55. Two limousin
cows consigned by William Clarke,
Grand Valley, averaging 1,570 lbs.
sold for an average of $47.82 with
sales to $55.
There were eight bulls on offer
selling $44.50 to $47 with sales to
$55. A limousin bull consigned by
Berkana Farms, Brussels, weighing
2,215 lbs. sold for $55. A limousin
bull consigned by Barry Jacklin,
Bluevale, weighing 1,905 lbs. sold
for $51.
There were 147 head of • veal on
offer. Beef sold $90 to $110 with
sales to $122.50; good holstein, $70
to $80 with sales to $85.50; medium
holstein, $60 to $70; heavy holstein,
$65 to $73 with sales to $77. Six
veal consigned by Dr. Keith
Dunstan, Mildmay, averaging 690
lbs. sold for an average of $93.35
with a limousin heifer weighing 655
funding from the Agatha Kaasa
Bursary Fund, established by the
National UCW in - 2003. Margaret
Agatha (Coultes) Kaasa (1909-
2000) was born in Huron County
and attended the Wingham High
School. This bursary is funded by a
bequest left to the United Church
Women fof leadership training and
education; continuing education and
projects or events that promote edu-
cation, mission, outreach, spiritual
nurture and ecumenical and inter-
faith dialogue, locally or abroad,
especially for lay women.
Presidents of all the UCW
Conferences across Canada have
been given information on how to
order this booklet for use in the
UCW. The cost will be $8.95 plus
tax, and mailing costs, and will be
available through the United Church
Resource Distribution Centre at the
National Office.
