Cranbrook hosts anniversary euchre
The Friday night euchre party at
the Cranbrook hall was the first for
the Grey anniversary celebration. It
was hosted by Alvin McLellan and
Ken Baillie. The lunch was provided
by Beth Earl catering.
There were 11 tables at play. The
winners were: share-the-wealth,
Helen Dobson and Leslie Knight;
high lady, Mary Huether; low lady,
Kathleen Whaley; high man, Sharon
Freeman; low. man, Jeanette Toner;
lone hands, Eileen Mann and Ross
Stephenson.
There were several lucky tally
draws with the winners being Verna
Crawford, Isabelle Bremner, Lloyd
Smith, Ruth Ward, Marguerite
Beirnes, Florence Holmes, Mac
Smith, Jim Bridge, Rex Whaley, Bill
Craig, Beryl Smith and Linda
Minielly.
Due the Grey Twp. celebrations
there will not be a euchre at the hall
on July 7.
The next, euchre will be held on
-July 21 at 8 p.m.
The next euchre for the Grey
celebration will be at the Ethel hall
on July 3 with Beth Earl providing
the lunch.

game, winning 9-1. On the hill for
Walton was Paul Dolmage pitching
the complete five innings and giving
up only three hits.
Strong at-bats came from Scott
Leonhardt going three for four, Scott
McDonald four for four, Barry
Young hitting a deep triple and Matt
Shortreed going two for four.
The Tigers struggled with errors
and were mercied after five innings.
The Walton Brewers travelled to
Exeter to face the Rangers on
Sunday evening. Leonhardt was on
the mound for the complete game
and the 7-2 win. He had nine
strikeouts in seven innings.
The Brewers bats were good with
Ron Strome going three for four at

the plate and Barry Young hitting a
long triple.
Exeter visits Walton Tuesday,
June 27 at 8 p.m.
The Walton Wonders 'faced the
Brussels RBIs in ladies slopitch.
Lisa DeJong pitched a strong game
but a 10-run third inning was too
much for Walton to overcome.
The final score was 22-12 for the
RBIs.
The Walton Indians faced the
Young Guns in men's slopitch game
last Thursday evening. The Indians
started well taking an early lead but
fell short in the later innings and lost
14-12.
A homerun by Scott McDonald
and some good base hits by the
Indians were not enough to rally in
the late inning.
