EXTERIOR RENOVATIONS

BLYTH MEMORIAL HALL
by The Township of North Huron
The project involves removal of existing exterior concrete ramp and
stairs and construction of an enclosed exit stairway. Work will also
include brick restoration, concrete sidewalks and landscaping.
Construction is to start April 20 and be completed by June 15, 2006.
General Contractor bidders are required to provide, with the bid
submission:
- a $5,000 Bid Security in the form of a Bond or Certified Cheque
- an agreement to provide a $25,000 Performance Security in the form
of a Bond, Irrevocable Letter of Credit or Certified Cheque
- Certificate of Insurance stating minimum $2.0M general commercial
liability insurance coverage
Bid Documents for a stipulated price Contract may be obtained from the
office of the Architect after March 30. Only General Contractors will be
provided with Bid Documents at no cost.
Offers under seal will be received at the office of The Township of North
Huron located at 274 Josephine Street in Wingham, Ontario, at or before
12:00:00 PM on April 13th, 2006.

coming
events
The Auburn Women's Institute
meeting was held Thursday, March
23 in the community hall. There was
a good attendance. President Erma
Cartwright opened the meeting with
the Institute Ode and Mary Stewart
Collect. 0' Canada was sung. She
gave a reading, The Quilting Bee.
Tena Empey read the minutes and
the card report was given by Laura
Mae Chamney.
Teresa Roetcisoender gave the
treasurer's report.
A gala celebration for the Clinton
Public Hospital Foundation's 100
years will be held at the Stanley
Complex, Varna, April 22.
The Huron County Historical
Society meeting will be April 18 at 8
p.m. in the Zurich to celebrate 150
years.
The planning meeting for the
annual meeting of the Huron West
District of the WI will be held April
3 in the Auburn Community Hall at
1:30 p.m. The District meeting will
be in Auburn Community Hall May
29. Registration is 9:15 a.m.
The annual meeting of the Auburn
WI branch will be April 20 at 12:30
p.m. at Stickers Restaurant in
Auburn.
On display were wall hangings
made by some members.
Curator Laura Mae Chamney read
interesting facts on and changes in
the Auburn community over the last
year. She also played some piano
solos.
Bingo was played and prizes were
received.
Grace was sung followed by lunch.
Hostess gifts were given out.
The fourth annual Alice Munro
Festival of Writing kicks off with a
short story writing contest.
Writers are invited to send in their
short stories (maximum 5,000
words) by June 9. Cost for entry is
$10/story, with a maximum of three
stories accepted.
The prizes are $200 for first, $100
for second and $50 for third. All
entries must be original and unpub-
lished pieces of work typed on 8 1/2
x 11 paper in a standard font such as
Knox United Church is having its
famous mouthwatering annual beef
supper on April 5 at 5:30 p.m. and 7
p.m. Details can be found in the
advertisement, elsewhere in this
paper. Those who have attended in
the past, say that it is the best supper
in the region.
There is a writers potluck to be
held in Wingham on Sunday, April
30 at the Adult Day Centre at 350
Josephine St.
This is I believe the seventh year
for the word-weaver's tri-county
event. Writers of all genres come
together for good food, great fun
and make friends with like-minded
people who are also isolated as they
work. We get together spring and
fall to help each other with contacts
and contests, information on work-
shops and give each other encour-
agement and feedback which is
Times New Roman, font size !I or
12.

The writing contest is just the start
of the festival. On July 8, the closest
Saturday to famous Canadian short
story writer Alice Munro's birthday
(July 9), the festival will host a writ-
ers' workshop at the Wingham
exactly what writers need to keep
plugging away on any lengthy work.
But — it's mostly the food.
Our group, Between the Sheets,
which meets each Monday at 10
a.m. at the Goderich Library will be
well represented with several mem-
bers attending. The tri-county event
hosts members from approximately
10 writers' groups throughout Grey,
Huron and Bruce Counties. You do
not have to belong to a group to join
in the fun. You can call me for more
details or a ride.
The Auburn Women's Institute
held a dessert euchre party on
March 23. There were 14 tables of
euchre and three tables of cribbage.
First and second winners received
money. There were five share-the-
wealth and several draw prizes
including for lone hands.
Dessert was served.
All proceeds from the day are
going to the Clinton Hospital
Auxiliary
I was away for most of the week,
visiting my Aunt Annie back where
I call home. We did a little bit of
seascape painting, some visiting
with other area friends and we sure
kept the kettle busy. Tea time with
Aunt Annie is always a perfect time.
And that is about it for me this
week. Keep smiling.

tered before July 1. Individually the
morning workshop is $15 and the
afternoon readings are $10.
