Art Gallery hosts
4th open show
HWIN
dinner
set for
April 6
The popular HWIN (Huron
Women in Networking) dinner is
back again, scheduled for Thursday,
April 6.
The information section of the
meeting will focus on resources
specifically targeting women
entrepreneurs.
Did you know that recent statistics
show that "women-owned and
women-led businesses now surpass
Canada's top 100 companies in job
creation: 1.7 million jobs to 1.5
million?
Come and find out more about the
federal Network for Women
Entrepreneurs and their resources.
Are you familiar with the local,
rural resource Women of Today
magazine?
What resources do you, and your
business, use? What do you need?
The dinner is hosted by the Huron
Small Business Enterprise Centre
and held at the White Carnation
banquet hall in Holmesville, with
Aocial time at 6 p.m. and dinner at
6:30 p.m.
The dinner is geared to women of
all ages, not solely business women,
but reportedly several business deals
have been initiated following these
evenings.
The grand prize has again been
donated by Kathy Nichol, executive
director of the Innkeepers of
Ontario. It features a one-night stay
for two at one of Ontario's finest
inns.
During dinner, those donating
door prizes, and those winning
them, will each have an opportunity
to give a one-minute advertisement
of their business/career.
At the end of the evening, the
grand prize will be won by a contest
challenging everyone's memory of
those businesses.
Cost is $25 per person.
Bring along your business cards
and brochures. Donated door prizes
are appreciated.
Pre-registration is required by
March 31. Call Alison Lobb,
business consultant, or Lisa Harper,
administrative assistance, at the
Huron Business Enterprise Centre,
527-0305.

Are you or do you know of an
artist or photographer who would
like a chance to display their work
in public?
The members of the Goderich Co-
op Gallery will again host their
annual open show this spring.
This is the only show in Goderich
which accepts original work in
any medium and subject matter,
from artists of all ages and
experience — in other words a true
open show.
Work will be accepted at the
gallery during the month of March
and shown at the Co-op Gallery
during the month of April.
The work should be ready to hang
or display. A cost of $10 per
item will be charged and more
than one work can be entered.
The coveted Viewers' Choice
Award will be presented at
the show's opening on Friday, April
7.
Come to the opening and vote
for your favourite piece of art.
If you have any questions drop by
the gallery — the Co-op
Gallery always has a working
artist or photographer on duty.
(Wednesday to Satujday, 10 a.m.
to 3 p.m. in March). Or call the
gallery for more information at 440-
0523.
Show co-ordinator Flo Dyck said,
"It is very exciting to see how
talented our neighbours are.
In the past, we have had not
only paintings and photographs but
carvings, pottery and rug
hooking, all original designs.
It is just like Christmas, seeing
what entries come in."
