If you received a blood transfusion or
blood product before 1992, you may have been
infected with hepatitis C.
Hepatitis C is a blood-borne virus that slowly damages your liver. Symptoms do not
show up for years but you will eventually get sick. Before 1992, screening for this
disease was not consistent and many patients became infected through the blood
system. So ask your doctor about getting tested. Detection is key to controlling the
virus and you may be entitled to financial assistance.

Special
service
at Knox
The World Day of Prayer was
held in Knox United Church on
March 3. There was a good
attendance.
This is a time when all women
around the world gather to pray for
their sisters.
This year the women of South
Africa prepared the worship service
and a short film. This film told of
the history, the injustice, HIV/AIDS
and how they were trying to make a
better life.
The theme Signs of The Times
was illustrated by leaves. These
leaves are a sign of hope and joy.
The source of hope and joy is the
risen Lord who gives the courage to
go forward.
Women all over the world are
dealing with the same problems and
praying for solutions and help. As a
world-wide worshipping group the
women here added their prayers.
Gloria Dow, Betty Ross, Freda
Scott, Muriel Coultes, Laura
Johnston, Vaughn Hunking, Rev.
Ethel Miner Claire and Pat Hunking
assisted in making this a meaningful
worship of prayer.
As the woman who poured the
ointment over Jesus' head is
remembered for her deed to Jesus.
Christians must go out and help the
oppressed of the world. They can
create new paths of solidarity with
others locally and in the global
villages.
No deed is too small. Like a
pebble in the water the ripple
expands and expands.
Linda Campbell, Nancy Folkard
and Wilma Higgins served lunch
and a social time followed.

She then explained to the group
that the symbol that had been placed
on their heads was to remind them
that one person dies every minute
around the world from a gun
shot.
The group divided into two groups
and discussed the Bible passage
given, and then discussed that
passage.
Then the two groups were asked to
look at two specific causes of gun
violence and respond to the
questions that would reflect their
feelings if this had happened to
them. A good discussion followed on
the events happening in our world
