BLYTH UNITED CHURCH
Greeting at Blyth United Church
on March 12 were Fred Meier,
Randy Fraser and Barb and Terry
Richmond. Everyone has been
invited to come early for coffee and
juice during Lent. This is hosted by
the Kerr family. Ushering were
Elaine Brown, Joann MacDonald,
Brenda Brooks and Earl Fyfe.
011ie Craig introduced the guest
organist, Gail Lear from
Londesborough.
Lorna Fraser invited everyone to
the Sunday school's Family Fun
Night on March 18.
The choir sang an anthem Higher
Ground.
Rev. Robin McGauley asked the
children to come to the front for
their storytime. The congregation
sang Tree of Life during which the
symbols of Lent (a loaf of bread and
a bottle of oil) were brought to the
front of the church by Kelsey Kerr
and Kourtney Target.
Rev. McGauley told the story of
how the oil was used to keep the
skin soft. She placed an orange sash
beside the red one to extend the
rainbow.
Brett Target held the candle to be
lit and taken down to Sunday school.
The readings were from Genesis
17: 1-7 and 15-16, Psalm 22 and
Romans 4: 13-25 led by Brenda
Brooks.
Rev. McGauley's message to the
adults was Your Name Shall be ...
She told the story of why God
changed Abraham and Sarah's
names. A moment of silent
meditation followed.
The next hymn To Abraham and
Sarah was followed by the offering
being received and the Prayer of
Thanksgiving. The last hymn was
My Faith Looks up to Thee.
Everyone we invited downstairs
for Irish stew and to look at the book
display.

Logan Chalmers has recently
added to the family's trophy case.
The five-year-old daughter of
Darryl and Lynn of Blyth, took
home an award from the recent
Flashdance competition held at
Guelph's River Run Centre.
This was the girl's first time in
the competitive division for acro
gymnastics, and she captured
highest overall solo for six years
and under.
To take the trophy, Chalmers,
who performed to Zippity Doo
Dah, had a high silver with a score
of 83.33.
Acro-gymastics combines dance
with gymnastics.
The talent is a family trait.
The girl's older sisters, Sadie
and MacKenzie both danced and the
latter took home a trophy for first
