THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, MARCH 2, 2006. PAGE 13.
Welcome back to Clyde and Cathy
McClure and Valerie Shortreed who
spent two weeks near Holguin in
Cuba.
Warren and Judy Beuerman spent
one week with them and returned
after the end of the first week.
Great times, good food and great
weather and they all have great tans.
Congratulations to Jacob
McGavin who won the junior
division of public speaking at the
Brussels Legion. He will compete at
Zone level in Clinton Legion this
Saturday. Good luck.
Our sympathies are extended to
the MacDonald and Love families
on the passing of Graeme
MacDonald. He will be remembered
as a councillor for Grey Twp. for
nearly 20 years as well as serving the
Municipality of Huron East for Grey
Twp. during its first term.
He was quite the fellow and I
enjoyed many enlightened
conversations with him over coffee
at the Walton Inn.
Welcome back to Joyce Marcuccio
to cooking at Walton Inn. She
enjoyed a two-week vacation in
Vancouver visiting with her sister,
Heather.
She was lucky with the weather
and had no rain for the time she was
there. She noticed the dampness but
otherwise it was quite nice.
they took in many of the sites
Vancouver has to offer including
Stanley Park and Gross Mountain.
It was Joyce's first time flying and
she was a bit leery but thought it was
great.
Welcome back.
The Walton choir and friends
gathered at the home of Emerson
and Phyllis Mitchell to enjoy a
delicious meal and social evening on
two separate evenings.
Gathering the first evening were
Brian Black, Joan Tuchlinsky,
Graeme, Helen and Michael Craig,
Paul, Dianne and Pearl McCallum
and Lavern and Marion Godkin.
On the second evening Neil. and
Marie McGavin, Marilyn
McDonald, Mary Bryans, Marjorie
Fraser, Glenda and Darryl Morrison,
Cassandra and Patty Banks, Laura
Black and Jamie Mitchell gathered.
The evenings were passed playing
cards and watching Wingfield Farm
videos by some. Donations for the
meal will be used to buy new music
for the choir.
Thanks to the Mitchells for two
lovely evenings.
Congratulations to Tanner Leslie
on his graduation from Fanshawe
College in the plumbing
apprenticeship program. He made
the Dean's Honour List and is
employed by JMR Electrical and
Plumbing Contractors. He is the son
of Patty Banks
Congratulations to Doug Dietz
and Sandra Wilson on the birth of a
new son, Jackson.
Neil and Marie McGavin and their
family attended the annual meeting
of ORFEDA (Ontario Retail Farm
Equipment Dealers Association) in
Toronto on the weekend.
Brian McGaVin, who has been
president of the association, moved
to be past president of the
association.
All the members of the McGavin
family were in attendance including
Brian's wife Shelley and family
Brandon, Abby and Tyson, brother
Jeff with Shannon, Jacob,
Mackenzie and Teagan, sister Cathy
with Pat, Brent, Alex and Shayna
and sister Heather with Bryan, Jared,
JessicA, Hayden and Emma. Also
attending were Brian's sisters-in-law
and spouses Sharon and Brad
Carnohan, SueAnn and Ed
VanMiltenberg and Sandra and
Doug Dietz.
They enjoyed the weekend and
Brian's final speech of his term as
president.
Celebrating their 25th wedding
anniversary this week are Gord and
Janice (Houston) Carnohan.
Also celebrating this week are
Doug and Janet Mitchell.
A buck and doe was held last
Saturday evening for Jamie Dalton
and Jen Huggins. Jamie is the son of
Kelly and Sharon Dalton. The
inclement weather kept the crowd to
the smaller size but a great time was
had by all who were there.
There was a good turnout at
Duff's United Church Sunday to
hear guest speaker Rev. Lowes in
Rev. Joan Tuchlinsky's absence.
There are many camp
opportunities available and
information can be picked up from
the bulletin board.
Donations for the silent auction
FROM WALTON
are to be in by March 12.
Betty 'McCallum or Marie
McGavin are available to pick them
up if needed, just give them a call.
Grocery tapes from Zehrs,
Foodland and Scrimgeour's should
be brought in as soon as possible.
The printer cartridge tapes are to be
left in the kitchen as well.
