It has been. an easy ride for the
Blyth Atom Reps in a best of five
series against Wallace, one that took
them to a WOAA championship in
three straight games.
There was no mercy shown to the
visitors, as Blyth Atom • Reps
shellacked Wallace 8-0 Feb. 20 at
home in the second game of a
playoff series.
With a hattrick, plus one, Alex
Peters continued his strong play,
while Kerman- MacDonald posted
the shutout in net.
The game appeared close until the
final minutes of.the first period when
Alex Peters scored off a play set up
by Mike VanWyk to Ryan Nesbitt.
Then with just a minute remaining
on the clock, Jason Meier skated in
to give his team a two-goal lead.

With momentum on their side, the
team hit the ice after the break raring
to go. Just minutes into the third,
Peters netted his hattrick with help
from Nathan Plunkett and Wood,
then turned around to set up the play
for Meier to score.
Close to seven minutes remained
on the clock, when Plunkett, off a

finish the scoring.
Now leading the series by two
games, Blyth was ready to meet
Wallace at home on Saturday
morning, hoping for a WOAA
championship.
The squad hit the ice early
Saturday morning and handily got
the task done.
As had been the case in the series,
Peters got the scoring underway
with a goal in the final five minutes
of the first period. Wood assisted.
Wallace surprised the team with a
late period goal to tie it going into
the intermission.
Things remained dead-locked at
1-1 until late in the second when
Carey handed off to Peters for his
second goal of the game. Two
minutes later Wood popped
one between the pipes, with the
assist coming from Peters and
Nesbitt.
With just 34 seconds remaining in
the middle period, Wood gave his
team a three-point lead to take into
the third, again with help from
Peters as well as Plunkett.
Fond of the hattrick, Peters
decided to nail it early in the third,
with assistance from Wood. Then as
the clock and any hopes Wallace had
for victory, wound down, Peters
scored the sixth Blyth goal.
This is the first time the Blyth
Atoms have won WOAA since the
1991-92 season.
The squad is set-to play Embro in
the first round of their OMHA semi-

chances. The only Brussels goal was
a result of a greatly executed puck
by Michelle Cousins.
