BLYTH 523211
THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, MARCH 2, 2006. PAGE 3.
The Blyth Swinging Seniors met
for their usual noon-time potluck
lunch on Wednesday, Feb. 22.
In the business portion of the
meeting, discussion was raised
about the provincial government's
Bill 36 to create Local Health
Integration Networks across the
province. Health services will be
*under the control of a government-
appointed board covering south
western Ontario from Tobermory to
Lake Erie and east to this side of
Kitchener Waterloo.
Members expressed a great
concern about many aspects of this
proposal and indicated their
intention to contact MPP Carol
Mitchell and the premier's office to
voice their objections. It represents
yet another blow to the small town
and rural areas of this province.
Only one more reading is required
to pass this controversial legislation.
The club was treated to a musical
program by students from Blyth
Public School, who attended with
one of their teachers, Jane Badham.
The variety of talent was impressive
and the program thoroughly enjoyed
by the audience.

Happy birthday to Brendan

Euchre results for Feb. 27 at the
Blyth Legion will be in next week's
paper.
BLYTH UNITED CHURCH
Greeting at Blyth United Church
on Feb. 26 were Fred Meier and
Doug Howson. Ushering were Pat
and Hary Bernard, Karen and Rob
Mason. Guest pianist was Amanda
Schwartzentruber.
The choir's anthem was I Believe
in Miracles.
Rev. Robin McGauley asked the
children to come to the front for
their storytime. Rev. McGauley told
the story of the Transfiguration of
Jesus. She showed them a picture.
Jesus was in white clothing and was
surrounded by a bright white light.
Everyone sang The Lord's Prayer
while the children did the actions.
Bryce Glousher held the candle to
be lit and taken down to Sunday
school. The readings were 2
Corinthians 4: 1-6, Psalm 50 and
Mark 9: 2-9 led by Bodie Craig.
Rev. McGauley's message to the
adults was Up A High Mountain.
She continued the story of
transfiguration, how Jesus took
Peter, James and John up the
mountain with Him.
They experienced Jesus being
transformed and Jesus standing in a
cloud with Elias and Moses. A voice
from the cloud spoke to them
saying,
"This is my beloved Son; listen to
him."
Everyone was invited downstairs
for lunch which was followed by the
annual meeting. FROM BLYTH

Tax refunds not always a plus
How can a tax refund not be a
good thing?
"It actually means that you've paid
too much tax throughout the year
and are now claiming it
back," says chartered
accountant Tina A. Di Vito, of
Toronto.
"In other words, you have given
the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)
an interest-free loan until the
time your tax return is processed
and you receive your refund.
One solution to this problem is to
have your employer reduce your
income tax withholdings to
reflect the RRSP contribution
you will be making during the
year.
To start the process, send a

Once approved, your employer
will be authorized to reduce the
withholding amount.
Your increased cash flow provides
an excellent opportunity to
start a monthly RRSP contribution

Why wait to get a refund
when you can pay less tax
throughout the year?
