Brussels Livestock report
Poor weather cancels Tuesday sale
Total receipts for Brussels
Livestock for the week ending Feb.
10 were 1,079 head of cattle, 392
lambs and goats.
On Tuesday there was no sale due
to weather conditions and closed
roads.

active trade with prices steady to last

Women's Institute announces a craft
fair and quilt auction to be held
Saturday, April 8 at the Listowel
Agricultural Hall from 9 a.m. - 3:30
p.m.
Quilts, wall hangings, crafts and
bake good will be for sale. Vendors
of all sorts will also be selling their
wares.
The fair was developed to provide
an opportunity for Branches to
raise money by selling their crafts
and quilts and to be a district
fundraiser. The district goal for the
monies raised is to help with the
Women's Institute community
projects.
A lunch booth will be available
active trade with prices steady to last
week. On Friday calves sold on a
strong market, and the yearlings sold
barely steady to last week.
There were 137 head of veal on
offer. Beef sold $118 to $130 with
sales to $140; good holstein, $115 to
$120 with sales to $123.50; medium
holstein, $95 to $110; heavy
holstein, $95 to $110. Aaron Hoover,
operated by the Women's Institute
members, who will be serving soup,
sandwiches, pie, coffee, tea and soft
drink,.
All a•tendees will have a chance to
bid for a beautiful quilt at auction,
purchase items from vendors' booths
and bake sale tables. A variety of
door prizes will be drawn throughout
the day.
The auction of the handmade
quilts will take place at 2
p.m.
Quilters and crafters are invited to
participate by selling creative
homemade and quilted products.
Vendors are also welcome.
Participation will help make this
annual craft fair and quilt auction a

steer weighing 760 lbs. selling for
$140. One black veal steer
consigned by Mike Kikkert, Zurich,
sold for $131.50 weighing 675 lbs.
Jim Waddell, Staffa, consigned one
black veal steer weighing 705 lbs.
selling for $125.50.
Lambs, under 50 lbs. sold $180 to
$182.50; 50 - 64 lbs., $222 to $241;
tremendous success.
