The Citizen, 2006-02-09, Page 19Challenge: Getting enough fibre to promote
a healthy digestive system and help control
blood sugar and cholesterol levels
Solution: High fibre foods are generally lower in fat and may also help with weight
control as they provide bulk to make you feel full. Women up to the age of 50
should aim for 25 grams of fibre per day. Check labels for foods containing more
than 4 grams of fibre per serving to help you boost your intake. Fibre-rich foods
include dried cooked beans and lentils, green peas, papayas, pears with skin,
mangoes, potatoes with skin, dried fruit, berries, nuts and seeds, whole grain
breads and cereals.
A Super Bowl party was held at
the home of Murray, Barb and
Heather Shiell. Due to inclement
weather only a small number
attended, but wonderful time was
had by all.
A great big thanks to Bryan
CodRes for his smart thinking of
bringing his Ford tractor and
snowblower. Everyone was escorted
home safely.
Last weekend due to the heavy
snowfall and high winds causing
drifting and zero visibility many of
the roads were closed.
There was no church on Sunday.
Monday the students were happy
to find out there was no school.
Many places were without hydro.
