Nominate that special person for the 21st Annual Citizen Citizenship Awards. Each year a committee chooses an outstanding citizen from each of the Blyth and area and Brussels and area communities to receive an award for contribution to the community. The Auburn Community Care Project is up and running again so donations or questions can be directed to Jean Plaetzer, Teresa Roetcisoender or Grace Cartwright. The following items are for your consideration: knitted, or regular, socks, pyjamas, underwear any size, and sweater sets three months and larger in the new patterns. Any clothing is welcome but please no t- shirts or scarves. Also welcomed are crib quilts and baby blankets. Lewis Sanders of Choices for Changes, a drug rehabilitation centre in Stratford said addicts are sending friends out to gather the ingredients so as to not look suspicious. Rehkopf said he doesn't want people using the medications for illicit purposes, "but, I think [people using it for meth] will just get it somewhere else." Potvin said rural areas were certainly a consideration when deciding upon the recommendation but "put up against the risk-benefit we felt this was the best decision," he said. In an article in The Globe and Mail Potvin said the ban is a preventive measure. "It still allows the public broad access to these very effective products." - That may be true in urban areas, but for residents in Brussels, access to these medications will require going that extra mile (or 20).
