BLYTH UNITED CHURCH
Greeting at Blyth United Church
on Sunday, Jan. 29 were Brenda
Brooks and Rob Mason.
Ushering were Brenda Brooks,
Nicole Kerr, Paul Kerr and Rob
Mason.
Guest organist was Margaret Kai.
The choir sang an anthem If That
Isn't Love.
Rev. Robin McGauley invited the
children to come to the front.
She explained to them that 40
days after Christmas there
is a tradition in the church of
lighting a candle.
This day is called Candlemas and
is on Thursday of this week.
Kortney held the candle to be
lit and taken downstairs with the
children to Sunday school.
The readings were Deuteronomy
18: 15-20, Psalm 111, and
Mark 1: 21-28 which was led by
Nicole Kerr.
Rev. McGauley's message to the
adults was Hope Not Fear.
The children returned to have
the candle they made in
Sunday school be blessed.
They are taking them home
and are to light them on
Thursday, the 40th day after
Christmas.
