"It seems like we talk about how we're going to talk about [the library] for 10 minutes...we're not getting anywhere," deputy-mayor Bernie MacLellan said. "Once we make a decision there is a lot of work to be done." MacLellan added that not all of council has been at the meetings and they need to be brought up to speed. McLachlan said councillors David Blaney, MacLellan and mayor Joe Seili met with the developer to "discuss what needs to be done before we can discuss it." *** A motion was passed to approve accounts payable in the amount of $406,083.1 1 *** Clerk-treasurer, Brad Knight presented the 2005 tax arrears report to council that stated tax arrears as a per cent of roll have increased slightly each year since 2003 and in 2005 were 10.3 per cent. "We'd like to see [that number] a little bit under 10 per cent," Knight said. "But overall that's not too bad." Councillor Larry McGrath said, "It keeps getting higher and higher every year, this should be telling us something. Limited was sent to council addressing concerns as to why the company was not selected for work in snow removal for the Seaforth and District Community Centre. The tender for Lavis Contracting was $58.99 per hour. The other tender was from VanDriel Excavating Inc. for $64.50 per hour. The motion to accept the tender from VanDriel was made by the Seaforth District Community Centre board. Councillor Alvin McLellan said he could not stand behind the decision made by the board since he wasn't part of the discussion. "I am not disagreeing with their decision, I just can't make a decision if I wasn't a part of the discussion," he said. They returned late Sunday night so there is no report on the catch, if they did catch anything or did they just have fun in the cold. Returning from a fantastic week away were Ron and Nicole Stevenson. They were among a group of 280 Pfizer representatives and bovine veterinarians from across Canada, who travelled to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic for a conference. Of course, Ron and the others had meetings to attend for part of the day, but the spouses had plenty of free, relaxing, soak-up-the-sun- and-fun time. Nicole reports not wanting to return to -10, but says she will soon adapt to winter again. Ron reports that there was plenty to do on the all- worship service on Jan. 22.
