Decorations at Tammy and Bill
King's home are about memories
and traditions
‘I never went out one year and
decided I’m going to get things to
decorate the house.” said Tammy. “It
all happened very gradually."
The main tloor of the home she
shares with her husband. Bill, and
their three children. Justine. William
and Kasey, has become a showcase
tor decorations which have been
collected from year to year and for
her own craftwork.
For the King family, decorating
for Christmas is traditional I \ done
Dec. I. The girls help inside and
William offers assistance with the
exterior decorations.
While there are many unique and
attractive displays. Tammy’s
favourite is the large tree in the
living room. “Each year I give the
kids an ornament so it’s all their
things on the lice ’
This year, however, there is
another favourite decoration lor her.
the dining room centrepiece from
Bill’s father's funeral in mid
December of last year. “We’ve had
it redone this year and it’s very
special to us.”
DID YOU KNOW...?
According to www.word-dcleclive.com, mistletoe was an element in |
European mid-winter celebrations for thousands of years before the advent
of Christianity, and like many “pagan” traditions, mistletoe was eventually
integrated into Christmas tradition, although it has no religious
significance in itself.
Today a small sprig of mistletoe is often hung in a doorway, tradition
dictating that anyone caught under the sprig must submit to^ kiss.
