Isaiah 9:2-7
I he people who walk in darkness will see a great light — a light that will shine on all who live in the land where death easts its shadow. Israel will again be great, and its
people will rejoice as people rejoice at harvesttime. They will shout with joy like warriors dividing the plunder. For God will break the chains that bind his people and the
whip that scourges them, just as he did when he destroyed the army of .Vidian with Gideon's little band. In that day of peace, battle gear will no
longer be issued. Never again will uniforms be bloodstained by war. All such equipment will be burned. For a child is born
to us, a son is given to us. And the government will rest on his shoulders. These will be his royal titles: WONDERFL L.
COUNSELLOR. MIGHT} GOD. EVERLASTING FATHER. PRINCE OF PEACE. His ever expanding, peaceful
government will never end. He will rule forever with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David.
The passionate commitment of the Lord Almighty will guarantee this!

This is why Christians celebrate Christmas.
We remember that Jesus was born to save us
and to give us hope.
On Christmas morning, we remember the wise
men's gifts by giving and
receiving presents of our own. And we go to
church to honour Jesus and to thank God for
sending us His Son to give us the gift of
everlasting life.
Christmas is when Jesus is born and when you spend
time with your family and friends. So next lime you
rush dow nstairs at Christmas and see those presents
laying there think about what Christmas really means
to you. - Kayla Rikky Thalen
On December 5 we had Santa. We got some gifts iwe
had no money so that was over and-done with). Then on
December 25 we celebrated Christmas - The birth of Jesus
Christ. Community church services, singing. Sunday school
programs, etc. That's what 1 remember.
- Femmy Van Amersfoort
Growing up in Holland. Christmas was celebrated differently
than in Canada. There were no presents. Santa Claus (St.
Nicolaas) was celebrated on Dec. 5 with presents. On the first
Christmas day Dec. 25 we would go to church in the morning
and in the afternoon we would go to the Christmas program of
the Sunday school. This was a highlight for the children. The
Christmas story and a free story was told by one of the teachers.
All the children would receive a book and a bag of candy and
an orange. I remember it as a nice and cozy time of the year. My
mother would bake raisin bread and almond rings and we would
have candies that we usually would not.have much of so they
were real treats. I remember hi the war when everything was
scarce (even oil for the lamp) at'Christmastime we would sing
Christmas carols in the twilight of the evening sitting
around the warm potbelly stove with
our large family. One thing that has
not changed and we can celebrate is
freedom in Canada and the real
meaning of Christmas that God so
loved the world that He gave
His one and only Son that
whoever believe in Him will
not perish but have
everlasting life.
