Walton Early Years
to resume Jan. 7
The Ontario Early Years Play and
Learn Program at Duff’s United
Church had a small group of
children enjoy decorating Santa hats
with the letters of their names. They
enjoyed rice as a sensory activity
and were amazing at naming all the
sea animals. (Something about
watching Finding Nemo they say).
A visit from Santa’s sister “Sylvia
Claus” was great fun. Sylvia wore
angel earrings, Santa socks and
brought special treats for all.
The Ontario Early Years will be
operating out of Clinton only for the
next two weeks. Walton class will
resume Wednesday, Jan. 7 at 10 a.m.

FROM WALTON
WI meets
The Walton Women’s Institute
held its Christmas at the Walton Inn
with nine members present. A meal
was enjoyed and the business was
conducted.
The WI will host two Blyth
suppers this summer.
The packages of Kleenex were to
be delivered to Huronlea for the
residents.
A gift exchange took place with
everyone showing their gift. They
sang We Wish You a Merry
Christmas and the meeting was
closed.
Outdoor Christmas fun
Citizens of Ethel and area gathered at the Ethel Hall to
begin their second annual Christmas celebration on Dec.
18 organized by the Community Winter Activity group. The
evening started off with a horse-drawn wagon ride around
town filled with children, parents and grandparents getting
in the holiday spirit by singing Christmas carols. Following
were hot drinks and sweet treats at the hall where people
enjoyed each other’s company looking at old pictures and
listening to Alfred Sutton play the piano. Stephanie Zaba
gives one of the horses a quick pet before jumping onto the
Wagon. (Elyse DeBruyn photo)

We wish some of our local
residents hopes for speedy
recoveries. Home from hospital
stays are Lila Storey, Marianna
Ryan, whom Joe reports is doing
very well and Brett Stevenson from
a tonsillectomy. Great-grandma
Betty reports he’s pretty quiet but
she’s sure that will change.
There seems to be mischief
abounding around the Walton area.
Over a dozen mailboxes on Walton
Road were vandalized on the
weekend. The Stevenson’s windmill
was damaged and Cook’s was
broken into on Wednesday night.
Heidi McClure is thankful her cast
has been removed,
ankle/foot is still
improving.

there to celebrate the Bell Christmas
at the home of Beverly Hoffer,
Marg’s niece. They had good
weather for travelling as well as a
great time.
Enjoying a get-together for
Christmas were a group of Walton
friends at the home of Marilyn
McDonald. Gathering for dinner
were Don and Pat Nolan, Audrey
and Howard Hackwell, Neil and
Marie McGavin and Ian and Brian
Wilbee. They enjoyed a delicious
meal and an evening of socializing.
The Cochrane’s family celebrated
