(Vicky Bremner photo) Crusaders down Sailors The Brussels Crusaders travelled to Goderich on Friday night for WOAA Senior A action. Trailing 1-0 in the first period, Brett Fischer tied it for Brussels with help from Chris Cull. Cull would make it 2-1 for Brussels at the 17- minute mark with help from Fis­ cher. Goderich would make the score 2- 2 in the last minute of the second period. Jeremy Inglis would regain the lead for Brussels with help from Ryan Muirhead. Mike Haggitt would score an insurance marker at the 7- minute mark with help from Mike Bromley. Midgets lose close one Goderich would make it 4-3 at the midway point but Brussels would hold off their hosts enroute to a 4-3 victory. Jay Evershed played another strong game in the Brussels net and earned the victory. The Crusaders received 47 minutes in penalties (five majors. 11 minors) to Goderich’s 37 minutes (five majors, six minors). The Crusaders hosted Wingham on Dec. 23. Mike Bromley and Brett Fischer will be representing the Crusaders at the WOAA All-Star Game Tavistock on Saturday, Dec. 27. The Brussels Pee Wee team got oil to a great season. Back on Oct. 17 Brussels played against Blyth and won 3-2. Oct. 19 was against Zurich. The squad won 5-3. Another victory was Oct. 23 against Mount Forest. The score was 4-3 and on Oct. 25 the team played Mitchell and won 9-5. The November schedule brought a wake-up call to the entire team. Nov. I against Minto, the team never really showed up as representative of the 8-1 loss. Nov. 8 Brussels played Mitchell and won 9-4. Dec. 3 Brussels played Blyth and won 2-1. Brussels played a strong game. Opening the scoring was Cody Subject unassisted. Bringing in the win was Robert Cronin with the assist going to Evan Ducharme and Gavin Bowers. Holding down the shots were Ryan Smith and Brianne Wheeler. The team hosted Mitchell on Dec. 5. At the end of the third. Brussels squad was on top 9-3. Brussels came out strong with goals from Cody Subject with two; Westin McLeod, two; Evan Ducharme, two; Ben Gowing, one; Taylor Prior, one goal and two assists; Brian Burgess, one goal and one assist; Robert Cronin, one assist and Brendan Stretton, one assist. Helping the winning team were Herbie Runstedler, Cole Novices win A Christmas wish came early when the Novice Bulldogs tasted their first win of the season when playing Zurich Saturday, Dec. 20. The final score was 6-3. The Blyth goals were scored by Heidi Raynard, two, two, Drew Wood Plunkett. Nice work in net Shelsie Popp, with good digging by Caroline McDowell, Laura Higgins and Chloe Middegaal. The next big challenge was Monday, Dec. 21 when the Novice Dogs faced their parent Dogs. Alex Peters, and Nathan came from in The Brussels Midgets were defeated 3-2 by Elma Logan in a close game on Friday night in Brussels. Mitch Blake scored the first goal during the second period assisted by Adam McClure and Darcey Cook. Cook also scored in the third period assisted by Pat Rushton. The PeeWces have participated in three tournaments, Clifford, Lucknow and Howick Unfortunately the team was unable to bring home the hardware. Dr. Eugen Bannerman officiating. Robert is the son of David and Brenda Mason and William and Debra Shipp of Clinton. Karen is the daughter of Harvey and Patricia Bernard of Blyth. Attending the bride as matron of honour was Niki Bernier, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Niki Hills, friend of the bride and Crystal Gridzak, sister of the groom. Flowergirl was Taylor Badley, cousin of the bride. Attending the groom as best man was Jeff Hunt, friend of the groom. Groomsmen were John Bernier, brother of the groom and Kevin Bernard, brother of the bride. Ringbearer was Brody Rickwood, cousin of the bride. Lighting of the memorial candelabra was performed by Larry Badley, uncle of the bride. Following the evening ceremony, a formal dinner and open reception was held at the Blyth and District Community Centre with master of ceremonies performed by Reg Badley, uncle of the bride. The happy couple honeymooned at the Fern Resort in Orillia and now reside at Rk #3, Walton. Karen is employed at the Huron County Health Unit, Clinton and Robert is a Diesel Mechanic with Ryan Enterprises Truck Repair, Walton.
