Thieves break into Cook’s
Christmas boxes
Residents at Huronlea in Brussels had a special treat from
the Women’s Institute as members filled six trays with
cookies for all to enjoy. They also packed 23 Christmas
boxes full of holiday treats including homemade jam,
pudding, oranges, apples, cookies, candy canes and of
course Christmas cake. The boxes went to citizens in
Brussels who have difficulty getting out during the winter
weather. Kathy Bridge, president of the Majestic Wl, places
a jar of jam in one of the boxes. (Elyse DeBruyn photo)

This is the week of Love and it
was celebrated at the United Church
on Sunday as families brought their
precious gifts to be baptized and
welcomed to the church. Amber and
Hudson looked and acted angelic as
their extended families of the
Wheeler and Delauria clans smiled
on with great pride.
Music is very much a part of this
festive season and to make the
familiar carols even more enjoyable
flutes, trumpets, piano, recorder,
organ and drums filled the church
with rhythm causing many smiles
and creating good memories.
Wayne Lowe will be enjoying his
prize of last Saturday. It’s just as if
Santa came to visit and brought a
sleigh of goodies. Of course all the
favourites from the Brussels Village
Market are now awaiting Wayne’s
tummy since he got to pick them out
himself in pretty quick time.
Enjoy.
The Brussels Business Group had
a good time with their recent
promotion and were pleased to
report the winners of their terrific
prizes.
The winners for this year are
Angela Brodhagen, Luella Winger,
Richard Minielly, Pat Button, Lori
Vader, Marsha Campbell and Eluned
McNair. Thanks for shopping in
Brussels and share your goodies
with-your friends.

A GLOWING CONCERN
Keep candles out of the
read) of children and pets.
Remember to snuff out your
candles if you are
leaving the room
or going to bed.
Over the past few years, the use of candles in the home has greatly increased —
and so has the number of fires caused by candle misuse. The Ontario fire service
offers the following tips for the safe use of candles.
Secure your candles in sturdy holders and, if possible, place glass chimneys or
shades on them. Keep lit candles out of the reach of children and pets, and well
away from any combustible materials. An unattended candle is an invitation to
disaster, so don't forget to snuff out your candles before leaving the room or j
going to bed. I
Remember to keep all matches and lighters out of the sight and reach of children. 1
