The Citizen, 2003-12-17, Page 20PAGE 20. THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 17, 2003. Sun, school takes part in service St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church S' HURON CHAPEL EVANGELICAL MISSIONARY CHURCH In the absence of Rev. Cathrine Campbell last Sunday for morning services at Melville Presbyterian Church, Elaine Armstrong, Janna Dodds and Julia Mitchell led the congregation in worship with the full participation of the Sunday school children. Greeting at the door were Brenda and Jodi McIntosh. For the third week of Advent the candle was lit by Tara and Murray Pipe and family with liturgy and responses from the congregation. With Mary Douma at the piano the 12-member junior choir presented the anthem. Silver Bells, while members of the congregation welcomed each other. The children’s story presented by Janna Dodds, was the whole Christmas saga of shepherds, angels and the wise men following Bethlehem’s star to find the Babe in the manger. It ended by reminding all that amid the gift giving, which is good because it celebrates the gifts that God has given, the birth of the Baby Jesus is the reason for Christmas. The morning reading of Psalm 117, prayers and the scripture lesson Isaiah 12: 1-6; Philippians 4: 4-7 were given by Julia Mitchell. Then Sunday school superintendent Elaine Armstrong introduced the play, Fumbly Bumbly Angels. The story concerned a group of amateur angels whose mission was to accomplish a place in the master choir. To do this they had to fulfill an assignment, and in this case they were sent to herald the arrival of the of the Baby Jesus. Many carols were sung during this presentation with everyone joining in. Collection was taken up by Bill King, Bill Aitchison, Frank Schimanski and Brian Armstrong. The family of Mack and Thelma Cardiff had placed a poinsettia in the sanctuary in loving memory. On Saturday, Dec. 20 a special Melville skating party will be held at the arena from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. organized by Jim and Leona Armstrong. This family event also includes a warm viewing area for those who ao not skate but can participate in the fellowship. Coffee, cookies and hot chocolate will be served. Finally as the kickoff to Melville’s 150th anniversary celebration, a levee will be held in the church on New Year’s Day from 2-4 p.m. organized by Murray and Betty Cardiff. There will be refreshments and the Baird family from Wingham will be providing musical entertainment. It is encouraged that those who have medals or uniforms, wear them, thus informing friends of their accomplishments. 254 Drummond St. E., Blyth Saturday Night Mass at 7:00 pm Father John Johnson, Pastor 357-2435 SNGASONC^OF Auburn - 526-1131 PASTOR DAVE WOOD - 523-4941 Sunday BRUSSELS - ETHEL PASTORAL CHARGE UNITED CHURCH OF CANADA Joan Golden - Diaconal Student Minister Church Office 887-6259 E-mail - bepc@wcl.on.ca December 21 Ethel United Church 9:30 a.m. Worship Service and Sunday School December 24th Christmas Eve Service at 7:30 p.m. Brussels United Church 11:00 a.m. Worship Service and Sunday School December 22nd Community Carol Sing at 7:30 p.m. We Celebrate in Hope, Peace, Joy and Love the Season of Advent THE ANGLICAN CHURCH OF CANADA 'WetcomtA <f<M to autie owl cumtAiyi coitA M CHRISTMAS EVE Cornerstone Bible Fellowship Ethel Sunday: 9:45-10:30 11:00-12:00 7:00 pm Tuesday: 7:30 pm Wednesday: 7:00 - 9:00 pm - Communion ~ Family Bible Hour and Sunday School ~ Evening Worship Service ~ Prayer & Bible Study - Youth (ages 12 & up) John 14:6 - Jesus said, "I am the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE, no one comes to the Father, but through Me."
