Atom Dogs in Silver Stick
Blyth Atom Rep Bulldogs
competed in the Wingham Regional
Atom Silver Stick this past week.
In the first game Blyth took on
Teeswater. After a slow start, and
two Teeswater goals, Blyth started a
comeback. Adam Cronin scored
from Cody Richmond to cut the lead
to 2-1. Tyler Black scored a coast-
to-coast goal to tie the score.
Blyth took the lead for good as
Aaron Popp scored the third goal.
The Dogs held on for a 3-2 victory.
Game two was Saturday morning
against Chesley. After another slow
start, Blyth found themselves down
2-0 with 33 seconds left in the
second period.
John Lecomte scored to cut the
lead to 2-1. Richmond drew the
assist.
Blyth worked hard in the third,
and with the goalie pulled for an
extra attacker. Lecomte found the
twine again from Black.
The game would end in a 2-2 tie.
After two games the Bulldogs
were in second place of the E group,
and needed a win to advance. They
would have to beat a strong
Milverton team which had beaten
Blyth twice before, 9-0 and 7-0.
The Dogs weren’t about to roll
over and play dead, however and
came out hard. Although badly
outshot, Blyth had chances, but
couldn’t find the back of the net.

Milverton broke the deadlock.
Although applying good pressure,
Blyth couldn’t score, falling 1-0 and
eliminated from further tournament
play.
The Atom coaches felt the
Milverton game was Blyth’s best
effort of the season.
Kayla Black was the difference,
keeping the team in every game.
The game against Milverton was the
best of the season for the netminder,
who stopped all but one of 29 shots.
Her goals against average for the
tournament was 1.66
The Atom coaches congratulate
the team on a great tournament and
their hard work in each game.
