and Feme McDowell are patients in
Wingham hospital. Doris Hicks,
Eileen Haggitt and Irene Schultz are
patients in the Clinton hospital. We
wish them a speedy recovery.
The Edgar clan held their annual
Christmas get-together at the
Belgrave Institute Hall with about
45 attending. Irlma Edgar and
family hosted the evening. The
Institute ladies catered a turkey
dinner. After dinner everyone
enjoyed a sing-song led by Niel
Edgar, Mary Thompson and
Amanda Cortes at the piano.
Santa arrived to give out the
presents and everyone had a chance
to tell him what they wished for
Christmas. Everyone enjoyed a
night of playing bingo.
They were present from Petrolia,
Brigden, Aylmer. London.
Tavistock. Clinton, Belgrave,
Wingham and Blyth.
_ Many of the relatives had attended
the Atom Silver Stick tournament to
watch Nick Cortes play, while others
attended the curling event in which
Robert and Mary Thompson took
part.
There were eight tables playing at
the Legion euchre on Dec. 8.
Winners were: June Patterson, 68;
high man. Kay Konarski. 73; low
lady, Thelma Johnston. 49; low man.
Edith Glousher, 43; ladies’ lone
hands, Dorothy Carter, five; men’s
lone hands, Lawrence Plaetzer,
three.
The door prize was won by
Thelma Johnston and share-the-
wealth went to Laura May Chamney
and Marie Bromley.
As this was the Christmas euchre
everyone received a small gift.
The next euchre is Jan. 12.
In the list of hymn books
dedicated last week I neglected to
list the ones in memory of Russell
and May MacDonald and Judy
MacDonald. My apologies to their
families.
Greeting at Blyth United Church
on Dec. 13 were Brenda Brooks and
Nicole Kerr. Ushering were Les and
Evelyn Caldwell.
Guest musician was Lynda
McGregor.
Rev. Eugen Bannerman welcomed
everyone and conducted a carol-sing
before worship at 10:45 a.m. The
first carol Hail to the Lord's
anointed, was sung, followed by the
Prayer of confession.
The lighting of the Advent candle
was by the Chalmers family, Darry l,
Lynn, Sadie, MacKenzie, Logan and
Rylee. They lit the third candle of
Advent.
The first three verses of A Candle
is Burning was sung. Dane Corneil
sang two solos one of which was

Another carol Oh. How Joyfully,
was sung as the children gathered at
the front of the church. For the
children’s story Rev. Bannerman
had a large box in his hands and
asked the children to guess what was
in the box. After many guesses he
opened the box and there was a glass
angel in it.

angels appearing to Zachariah and to
Joseph. He also told them of the
Russian astronauts claiming to see

The dramatized lectionary reading
was from Luke 1: 5-25. Those taking
part were Brandilyn and Wyatt
Bearss, Amelia Carter-Brown and
Jessica Sparling. The students and
teachers went downstairs for Sunday
.school to practise for the pageant on
Dec. 2I.
Rev. Bannerman’s message to the
adults was Christmas is About
Angels.
Rev. Bannerman conducted the
Christmas communion. Those
serving were Lorna Fraser, Fred
Hakkers from session, Chelsea
Carter-Brown, Amanda and
Brandilyn Bearss and Grant
Sparling.
The hymn, Here, O My Lord, I see
Thee was sung, followed by the
solemn blessings of Christmas.
Dec. 21 is the Christmas service at
11 a.m. The Sunday school pageant
and the Christmas Candlelight
Service are at 7 p.m.
Dec. 28 is Music Sunday with the
Sunday school choir.
