The Citizen, 2003-12-10, Page 23THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 10, 2003. PAGE 23. North Huron council briefs Squash equipment rental fees increase North Huron Council authorized an increase in rental fees for squash equipment at the North Huron Wescast Community Complex from $2.50 to $5. This is to assist with the future costs of replacing equipment as recommended by the recreation and facilities committee. *** Council authorized the director of recreation and facilities to investigate alternate locations for the Wingham Scout Group recommended by the Recreation and facilities committee. Council authorized the acceptance of a cash settlement from their insurance carrier for the Scout House which was destroyed by fire as recommended by the recreation and facilities committee. *** John Stewart, clerk-administrator, advised council that USF Canada had been notified that their proposal to operate the Wingham water system, the Humphry water system, the Blyth water system and the Blyth sewage treatment plant had been accepted by council. *** Council had no objections to granting copyright permission to the University of Calgary to include Wilderness to Wawanosh: East Wawanosh Township. 1867 to 1992. in their digital library. *** Council authorized municipal staff to investigate the possibility of holding a public swim and public skating during the Jan. 1, 2004 New Year’s Day Levy. *** Stewart advised council that he had been contacted by L. Ternosky on behalf of the Blyth Idea Group to determine if council would pay the cost of postage which would be about $300 for a mail-out as part of the CEDTAP program. He also advised them that there was no money budgeted for this expense. Pursuant to the new Municipal Act, 2001, in order to amend the budget, the public would have to be notified and a public meeting held to discuss the matter. Council indicated that it was their belief that the $1,200 which they had already committed to the project, covered this type of expense. Stewart is to obtain additional information in respect to the CEDTAP program and the necessity of the mail-out. *** Council accepted, with regret, the resignation of Bob Thompson, director of public works, which will be effective on Dec. 31, 2003. They also accepted, with regret, the resignation of Byron Ellis, chief building official which will become' effective Feb. 27, 2004. MS lives here.
