Crusaders take on
The Brussels Crusaders travelled
to Wingham this past Friday night to
take on the Wingham Spitfires.
Brussels came out flying in the ■
first as Clint Fischer scored from
Corey Campbell and Cory Bragg.
Mark Wilson made it 2-0 with help
from Mike Haggitt and Mike
Bromley.
Wingham would tie it by the end
of the first period and the teams
exchanged goals in the second to
take a 3-3 tie into the third. The
third Brussels goal was scored by
Campbell with help from Bragg and
Tyler Armstrong.
Wingham scored two goals by the
midway point of the third before
Bromley made it 5-4 with help from
Wilson and Haggitt.
However, Wingham quickly made
it 6-4.
With roughly 2:30 left in
regulation, the Wingham and
Brussels goaltenders had a
heavyweight tilt. Evershed came out
on top of this one.
This placed backup goalie Rob
Warwick in the Brussels net and he
would yield Wingham’s seventh and
final goal in a 7-4 loss.
Saturday night the high-powered,
high-octane Durham Thunder Cats
came to town. Unlike the previous
time the two teams played Brussels
kept this one a relatively close 6-2
score.
Scoring for Brussels were Jason
Spitfires
Kellington and Dave Lewington.
Haggitt picked up two more assists
and Wilson picked up a single
helper.

Royals visit the Blyth and District

Blyth had one goal that was scored
by Hunter Dale with help from his
teammates.
The Mite team consists of Sydney
Wightman, Owen Andrews, Justin
Rodgers, Shelby Higgins, Branden
and Franklin Marshall, Hunter Dale,
Owen Weber, Craig Raynard, Colton
Rodgers, Drew Bromley, Brittany
Walden, Dawson Coultes and
Damen Allen. Coaches are Bruce
Higgins, Brian Wightman and Todd
MacDonald.
The excitement was wild when
Blyth Atoms challenged Seaforth to
a game at the John Labatt Centre on
Friday, Nov. 28. The Atoms played a
good game; unfortunately Seaforth
played an even better one for an
upset of 5-0.
The Bulldogs rallied and played a
fast-paced game with BCH
(Bayfield, Clinton, Hensail) on
Sunday, Nov. 30 which ended in a 2-
2 tie. Again the sibling rivalry
between the Plaetzer brothers served
the squad well. If Jamie scores then
Jeff is bound to.
On Saturday, Dec. 6, the Atoms
travelled to Lucknow and played a
back-and-forth game that resulted in
their losing to 3-2. The proud
goalscorers were Cody Ducharme
and Dana Teed.
