Following the opening ceremonies Derek Cook, Jamie Black, Jenny Ritchie and Lisa Sherred were initiated as new members. Huron County Christmas bureau is having their collection week Dec. 8-12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. They will be open to receive gifts of food, new toys and new clothing. Let’s give what we can to make someone else’s Christmas more enjoyable. Eugen Bannerman welcomed everyone to church and conducted a carol-sing before worship at 10:45 a.m. with hymns about angels. The first carol O Come, O Come. Another carol Oh, How Joyfully was sung as the children gathered at the front of the church. For the children’s story, Rev. Bannerman told the story of the Advent wreath. He asked the children to come up and gather around it. He explained to them the meaning of the candles and also the meaning of the wreath which is ever green and never ending, just like God’s love. The mitten tree and white gifts were presented for the Huron County Christmas Bureau. The Dramatized Lectionary Reading was from Luke 1: 26-38. Those taking part were Brandiiyn and Wyatt Bearss, Amelia Carter- Brown and Jessica Sparling. The students and teachers went downstairs for Sunday school to practise for the pageant on Dec. 21. Rev. Eugen Bannerman’s message to the adults was, Christmas Is About God With Us. Lavern Clark, chair of the official board presented hymn books in memory of Cenetta Bainton, Dwight Campbell, Grace Poore, Laurie Scott, Alvin Sippel, Arthur and Wilma Hartung, Milton and Eileen Burnett, Douglas Burnett, David and Annie Craig.
