It was a birthday gathering (hut
brought together three Walton
women. Celebrating their birthdays
within days of one another are
Malinda Johnson. Mary Bernard and
Jo-Ann McDonald. They along with
good friend Betty McDonald
enjoyed lunch together?*
The Ontario Early Years Program
in Walton saw the children making
tractor pictures and learning more
about the letter T. At circle the
children enjoyed bumping up and
down in their little red wagons and
listening to the story Something
from Nothing.
This was Lisa DeJong's last week
with this group. She said goodbye to
the wonderful children and parents.
A new program director that many
local people know will be starting
this week. The Walton Duff's
Church site ol (he Ontario Early
Years Program welcomes Valerie
(Johnston) Watson to her new
position. She looks forward to
meeting everyone from 10 a.m, to
11:30 a.m. on Wednesday mornings,

The Walton Little School's
Shining Stars class is studying
feelings.
The class learned all about their
feelings and how their action . tilled
their friends’ feelings. They role
played and discussed how they
thought children in different pictures
were feeling and why.

Brussels,
The senior pre-school or Acorn
class is reading books by Laura
Jolie Numcrolf Their favourite is II
you give a mouse a cookie. They
made cookies, counted chocolate
chips, retold the story and even
made their own book called II You
Give The Acorns a Cookie.
The Acorns also enjoyed ihe
mouse puppets and pup|>et theatre in
dramatic play
On the first Sunday of Advent,
Duff's United Church congregation
was greeted by Brian and Shelley
McGavin.
The Advent wreath candle was lit
and the reading was done by Evelyn
Gululzcn and her son Lucas, They lit
the candle of Hope.
Rev. Joan Tuchlinsky's
monologue was about the angel
Gabriel speaking to Zechariah.
During the offering music was
provided by Graeme Craig, guitar,
Marion Godkin. trumpet, Phyllis
Mitchell, violin, Marie McGavin,
piano and Glenda Morrison at the
orgaff.

On Friday evening Leona
McDonald. Isabel Wheeler, Mary
Bryans and Doris McCall also went
io enjoy (he wonderful Christmas
program. Isabel’s nephew is in the
choir. They all report a fantastic
musical program with many
Christmas melodies, old and new.
Neil and Marie McGavin have
returned from a trip to Arizona.
They visited with some relatives at
Casa Grande and spent time touring
the area. They went to the
impressive Grand Canyon and say it
was gorgeous. They enjoyed warm
weather and clear air.
Marie reports it certainly isn't a
farming area, going from desert
right into mountains. I guess
McGavins will not be expanding to
Arizona.
Congratulations are in order for
Dave Lewington. He was elected the
president of the Youth Division of
the National Farmers' Union. The
convention was held in Saskatoon
and he defeated one opponent from
the west to obtain the position, lie
will serve a one-year term.
Condolences to the family of Scott
McLean on his sudden passing.
Scott and his wile Lois farmed in the
Moncrieff area before moving to
Listowel in retirement. Many people
will remember daughter Connie
from her years as a hairdresser at
George of Brussels’s salort. Our
deepest sympathy to Lois and family
Gwen. Bev, Connie and Marilyn and
their families,
It was a stormy beginning to the
deer hunt this week. Al writing, the
deer would really be hard to find in
the driving snow squall
Celebrating birthdays this past
week to end November were Craig
Gillis, Lin Stettler. and me. Another
year older but probably no wiser in
my case. December babies begin
with Keith Williamson and Malmda
Johnston. Happy birthday to all.
A celebration for Clyde McClure
and Cmhy La/ctle will be held at the
BM&G aicna on Saturday evening.

accommodate the unique needs of special patient groups, specifically those
who are critically ill palliative patients, children and women in labour.
