Nov. 15 the Brussels Pre-Tykes played their home opener against a strong Seaforth team. As several players took to the ice for the first time, Brussels struggled to keep the puck out of their end. The determined players rotated in net, taking shot after shot. Crusaders lose 2 The Brussels Crusaders lost two games this past weekend in WOAA Senior A action. On Friday night the team hosted Hensail who currently reside in second spot in the division. Mark Wilson would tie the score at one early in the second period with help Tykes continue winning ways The Brussels Tykes continue their winning ways with a 5-2 victory of BCH (Bayfield. Despite a great effort by all players, Brussels was defeated. The tables turned on Saturday. Nov. 29 when Brussels was home to from Mike Bromley and Brett Fischer. Hensail would make it 2-1 but Brussels would re-tie it as Bromley scored with help from Haggitt. Hensall scored a shorthanded goal in the first minute of the third to re­ take the lead. Corey Campbell tied it on home ice Nov. 29. A solid performance by Brussels goalie Josh Bridge gave his squad the edge they needed to come out on top of this contest. Brussels took the lead early with Brock McLean skating in unassisted. BCH, however, scored ju§t a minute later to tie it. then took the lead to go into the second period. The hosts shut them down for the rest of the game, while continuing Brussels Midgets compete in annual Silver Stick tourney Brussels Midgets played well during their games in the Silver Stick tournament this past week. Unfortunately. Brussels lost 5-3 against Elma Logan in their first game. Nov. 24. Robbie Semple assisted the first goal scored by Steven Ropp. Darcy Cook played great with two assists, one to Brent Wheeler and the other to Brandon Blake They celebrated after game two. Nov. 28. when Brussels won 6-2 against Wingham. Matt McClinchey scored first Bayfield-Clinton-Hensall (BCH). In the first period, rookie players Tim Waechter shone as he proudly scored two consecutive goals. BCH came back to score on busy Brussels’ goaltender Kai Heimstra, after much good stick handling. Just seconds before the buzzer. in weekend hockey action midway through with help from Fischer. Hensall would break the backs of the Crusaders with 3:21 to go as Chris MacDonald would score the winning goal. On Saturday, the team looked to re-group against Monkton. their offensive effort. McLean, set up by Brody TenPas and Reece McArter tied the contest early in the middle period, then got his hattrick as the seconds ticked down to intermission. Hayden TenPas got the assist on this goal. Mitchell Kellington with his first goal of the season increased the lead in the third, unassisted, then set up B. TenPas for the final goal of the game. assisted by Cory Chapman and Kyle Gibson, then again with assistance from Mitch Blake. Wheeler also scored two goals assisted by Greg Bowers and Semple. Bowers also scored a goal in the third period assisted by Wheeler and Campbell scored another assisted by Cook. Game three. Nov. 29 eliminated Brussels from the competition after their 4-1 loss against Zurich. Adam McClure scored the only goal in the third period with 17 seconds left to go. Waechter scored again for a hat- trick. In the second period, it was a close battle as BCH came back with one. Scotty Dolmage kept Brussels in the lead as he scored his first goal. Shortly after, BCH fought back beating Heimstra with a hard shot. Things started well as Bromley scored a powerplay goal with help from Haggitt and Wilson. Monkton would then score four unanswered goals to take the steam out of the Crusaders.
