The gang of the Walton Inn
gathered on Wednesday to celebrate
Jeanne Kirkby’s birthday.
Congratulations to Walton
resident Joan Perrie whose avid
interest in photography has earned
her recognition in the Huron County
photo contest. Joan earned a third
place for her picture of Cleason
Martin at the Seaforth fair as well as
a sixth place for her entry in the
people and places category for a
picture of the Brussels Pipe Band on
parade. There was a wine and
cheese party held in Goderich to
recognize the winners and winners
also received a weekend bag with
photo accessories. Congratulations
to Joan for her efforts and obvious
talent.
The Ontario Early Years program
is having a very successful turnout
at Duff’s United Church on
Wednesday mornings. There is an
average of five to eight children
every week with their parent. They
meet from 10 - 11:30 a.m. to try new
activities, make small crafts and
sing songs for ages 0-6 years.
The program is free and everyone
is welcome.
This past week the children easel-
painted and enjoyed dancing with
instruments at circle. The program
co-ordinator for. Walton is Lisa
DeJong.
What weather we had on
Thursday! I was glad not to have to
go out for bus or mail. Those that
did venture out weren’t always
lucky. Jeff McGavin met a hydro
pole head on but was lucky that he
wasn’t hurt. Truck didn’t fare so
well, though.
Chris and Judy Lee have returned
from a cruise aboard The
Millennium around the Caribbean
with other southwestern Ontario
businesspeople. They flew to Miami
and travelled to Port Everglades to
board the cruise ship. They headed
for San Rafeal in the Dominican
Republic for their first port stop.
They toured a fort at Puerto Rico
believed built in the 1600s.
The island of St. Thomas has a
total population of 15,000.
They visited Nassau in the
Bahamas before returning to port.
They had a day of touring Miami on
return.
The weather wasn’t fantastic and
they had main on and off throughout
the trip. The time spent onboard ship
was filled with fantastic
entertainment and an abundance of
food. They had their evening of
dining at the captain’s table and
report it was just a wonderful trip.
Celebrating birthdays this past
week include Brian Pryce, Danielle
Ducharme, Barry Hoegy, Tristan
Rijkhoff, Blaine Marks, Michael
Grobbink, Pat Gillis, and Charlie
Glauser.
Happy birthday.

Acorns read popular story
The Walton Little School senior
pre-school class, The Acorns, have
enjoyed hearing the story about the
Three Bill Goats Gruff this week.
They have read several books about
goats. They liked how the goats
tricked the mean troll.
The children also performed the
play for the other class.
The class also talked about bridges
and discovered that they can make a
bridge out of their bodies.
They have been doing afternoon
math activities and taking turns
reading with the teacher one on one.
The Shining Stars classroom has
been alive with sights, sounds and
smells as they learn about the five
senses. They are learning about the
parts of the body and what makes
them move.
WLS is hosting a Christmas in the
